Daughter met her best friend who is a nurse today. The girls have known each other since they went to baby ballet together aged 2.

 

Friend went down with covid on boxing day 2020 and was off work with long covid until July. She’s still not right now. She caught a cold in November which went straight to her chest and is still struggling to recover from that.

 

 

Friend is the one who was a bridesmaid before Christmas with a bride who had demanded that no masks were worn at the wedding. The wedding was a as mask free as the bride wanted… apart from Friend who wore one the entire time except when photos were taken, for eating and to walk up the aisle thus incurring the bride’s wrath.

 

Daughter came home and was saying that meeting Friend was more than enough to make her decide that there was no way she was going to any new year’s eve events… or anything else she was uncomfortable with.

After having to cancel my booster appointment a couple of weeks ago, I managed to get it done at a walk-in centre yesterday afternoon. Straight in, jabbed and out again within 5 minutes.

 

Had the Pfizer, this time, having had two AZ previously. This one certainly hurt more - as if it hit a nerve or something - and my arm feels very tender today. I also woke with a bit of a headache this morning (although that may be due to the 4 pints of beer in the pub and the Cointreau hot chocolate I had before going to bed ), but I’m feeling OK otherwise.

It could be treble tomorrow - that's exponential growth in action.

 

On a positive, by the end of today, we may be at 90% of all those over 12 having had a least one dose.

 

You asked earlier about primary aged children. For under 12's, the medical advice may be that the benefits of vaccination for those individuals isn't strong enough to proceed with vaccination, which although small, has it's own risks. The JCVI statement quoted here puts it clearly as follows:

 

"When formulating advice in relation to childhood immunisations, JCVI has consistently held that the main focus of its considerations should be the potential benefits and harms of vaccination to children and young people themselves. The benefits and risks from COVID-19 vaccination in children and young people are finely balanced largely because the risks associated with SARS-CoV2 infection are very low. Of all age groups, children aged 5 to 11 years are those at lowest risks of serious COVID-19."

 

The 'whole society' question is a challenging one, it could be seen as offsetting the lives of the youngest against the eldest. Will vaccination be recommended for under 12's in the near future? I think there is a good chance, but I think it right UK medical advisors make that judgement based on research and data that they are willing to stand behind rather than do so just because other countries have.

Lots of total carp around about the figures

 

The Daily Fail had an article this morning (no - I don;t normally read it - but I saw it on Google News) saying that Omicron has already peaked - before Christmas

 

So I went onto the official government data website

Firstly - full of warnings about incomplete data for most of the Christmas period basically

 

but the data they have accurately, stops about when the article says it peaked

 

so basically if you ignore the data that was not in yet then the number of cases have dropped

 

great stats there

almost as good as saying that you should stop testing so the numbers drop - which some moron on the telly yesterday was saying

(and someone else but lets not get all amphibian)

 

In the next few daya the real figures will be complete - then they all get delayed again due to New Year

 

I'l; lay off believing anything until the figures stabilise again in January

Milton Keynes Theatre has always put on a really good panto, but this one seemed a little... avant-garde for my tastes. Very disappointed.

I didn't get most of the jokes, there were very few songs, and hardly any knee slaps. I give it 1 out of 5.

Funny that Mrs mikeprice's son, who works in a local hospital, says a lot of people are in there with omicron and seem to have a lot more problems than that!

Being retired and not being able to do much due to Covid - I started some time ago on a very minor crusade

 

When I had time and I find some anti vax comments on a News site etc - I started looking at the 'facts' they stated as true and found the real facts and posted a link

 

clearly I probably would never convert anyone - but the aim was to inform anyone else looking and wondering

 

very minor thing - only do it a couple of times a day - but it kept me feeling useful

 

 

recently I just don't have the energy any more - it is really depressing

 

still - must start again - really posting this to encourage me

Apparently a bunch of 'Covid Deniers' have invaded one of the main Liverpool Hospitals

 

They tried to remove an elderly man, accused the nurses of aiding in a genocide and the Police of aiding a kidnap

 

When the cops arrived the following happened

 

He then told police they have "no jurisdiction" and "the Government has been liquidated".

 

He then claimed he had more jurisdiction as a "common law constable", to which police replied "no you don't, mate".

 

I think we can all accurately imagine the tone of voice of the Police Officer in the above 'discussion'

 

apparently he is now in custody

His court appearance should be interesting

You know, one of those might be sort of true? Bottom right corner - wellness. Seems from ZOE data that a healthy, plant based, diet, DOES offer some protection against plague. And probably many other things.

I have just booked my Booster as I am eligible in a couple of weeks. Double vaccine is already mandatory at work (working with the vulnerable) so it’s only a matter of time before 3 vaccines are mandatory.

 

It was an easy process to book online. You can also pick any approved vaccine you like - it was like a buffet menu. I am curious to know if you have the choice in the UK?

Nope. Seems to be either Moderna or Pfizer depending on what they have most of.

 

Most people are grateful. An annoying number turning down the opportunity, but I haven't heard not having a choice of manufacturer being given as a reason. Can't really see how an individual could make an informed choice....

No choice for my wife of me, either when booking online or at the vaccination venue.
