6Foot2 Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 (edited) In a break from the expected/anticipated Downing Street televised briefing pattern (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) Boris Johnson will present a 'surprise' briefing from Number 10 later today. The briefing is due to start at 5:00 pm and this afternoon the PM is expected to address the UK's coronavirus fatalities as the total approaches 100,000. Ditto Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 (edited) Whilst I can fully sympathise with the letter, our trust CEO would not be happy with this letter going out (even though they also run SCITT!) - it would be regarded as somewhat unprofessional, even if understandable. Also, I wonder if it is parents with the feedback - could it be those 'pesky' kids pretending to to be the parent Edited January 26, 2021 by Ditto
3s-gtech Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 Thankfully, we don’t have trusts, CEOs and anyone beyond the governing body to keep things like that in check. Sometimes, it needs to be said. The tone is acerbic enough to pass over the heads of many. 1
mikeprice Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 Last paragraph [ATTACH]60580[/ATTACH] I do wonder a) how many of 'those parents' will actually understand this b) how professional this is You have parents - you have to work with them to help the kids which can be 'difficult' but basically saying 'lay off you idiots and do it yourself if you think you can' - is not necessarily helpful just my opinions but if I had received a letter like that I would be furious and you don;t want to see me angry - especially if I go all calm and logical Mrs mikeprice has no idea because - after about 10 years - I have never been angry at/to her - because she is 'perfect' - but that letter would really go there for reference - and in case of any future meeting in person with any mods - I have no idea why I put 'perfect' in quotes just to be clear 1
Popular Post stevejp Posted January 26, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 26, 2021 Last paragraph [ATTACH]60580[/ATTACH] Whilst having total and utmost respect for previous posters, I am afraid I put myself firmly in the ‘good for him’ camp. Being professional can only get you so far, and cheeks can only be turned so many times. Yes, we should try to stay professional, but there are times when something has to be said, and a head has to stand up for their staff. One can only imagine what has been said by that particular group of parents which has driven the head to take this step, but his staff will know that someone has their backs - and that matters. 8
3s-gtech Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 (edited) I also wonder if the head has one eye on July, is approaching an age of afternoon naps, driving ‘sensibly’, and posting often in the Dad Jokes thread, and thought ‘why not?’ [emoji6] Edit: nope he looks about forty! paulkerton Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 I also wonder if the head has one eye on July, is approaching an age of afternoon naps, driving ‘sensibly’, and posting often in the Dad Jokes thread, and thought ‘why not?’ [emoji6] Edit: nope he looks about forty! As a 38 nearly 39 year old that appreciates afternoon naps, sensible driving and Dad jokes, I don't know how to take this... :D 3

6Foot2 Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Link: [salisbury] Cathedral opens as COVID-19 vaccination site [salisburyCathedral.org.uk] On Saturday 16 January the Cathedral opened its doors for the first time as a venue for the Sarum South Primary Care Network COVID-19 Local Vaccination Service. Scores of over 80s came along to have their first COVID-19 jab – and all done to the sound of music. The Cathedral’s organists, Director of Music David Halls and Assistant Director of Music John Challenger, played soothing sounds to those waiting for, or recovering from, their jabs and clocked up around ten hours on the keyboards (with a few essential breaks)...
mikeprice Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 (edited) Link: [salisbury] Cathedral opens as COVID-19 vaccination site [salisburyCathedral.org.uk] Great place - apparently people come from all over the place to admire the spire - it is 123m high apparently sure I heard that somewhere on a different note - met with a TA from my old school today they have some kids in - mostly 3 or 4 in each class and the teachers are doing all the lessons on line with a TA in each room helping the kids get logged in and all that stuff except Year 3 - which has 15 kids every day - more than the rest of the school put together (infants is empty due a positive test a few weeks ago) they suspect a group of parents have got together and worked out that if they say they are key workers then the school cannot do anything about it - even though they know they are not!!! Ditto Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 How many of us knew that getting Covid is potentially a reportable event via RIDDOR? @smurfomatic, you might want to read the background on this and see if it can help persuading your employer to help reduce you exposure risk. https://www.hse.gov.uk/coronavirus/riddor/riddor-reporting-further-guidance.htm#disease-law 2
mikeprice Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 Fri Day is Jab Day for Mrs mikeprice anyway so after it takes I will be much less likely to kill her by kissing or breathing on her Whether or not she kills me for leaving the kitchen cupboard doors open is another matter - is there a vaccine for that?????

mikeprice Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 OK vaccine done - bleedin' good organisation just arrived in the car - asked whether we want to go to the drive-thru or the walk in opted for drive-thru took about 5 minutes and we were out again - and that includes waiting behind while another car was done (well - I assume it was a person IN the car being vaccinated - before someone goes all pedantic) including an appointment for the 2nd dose in 11 weeks well pleased wonder when I'll get done???? 2
Ditto Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 Gov coronavirus site is showing this currently. For daily figures, if only it were true. I so much look forward to the day it says this for real, rather than as a result of a processing issue they are reporting.

6Foot2 Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Link: https://www.facebook.com/BurtonNewsOfficial/ [Facebook Burton News] Council bosses are desperately trying to work out who was behind the cyber attacks on Burton's traffic management screens yesterday. Burton News understands the council has asked for help from the Highways agency to find out who added a message on the board reading "Go back to Swad you idiots. We are supposed to be in lockdown!". It prompted a complaint from Karen Banks, from Swadlincote, who posted photos of the sign to the Burton Life facebook group, calling it "100% unacceptable", before quickly removing her post. However, her rant backfired later that night, as the hacker then changed the message to "Do you want to speak to a manager Karen?". A Burton News journalist confirmed that the message was still there at 7:30pm last night. A council source told us it is now a race against time to stop the hacker from posting more rude messages...

6Foot2 Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Link: Captain Tom Moore in hospital with Covid-19 [The Telegraph] Captain Tom Moore has been admitted to hospital with Covid-19, according to his family. The 100 year-old is being treated in hospital yet has not been admitted to ICU. In a statement posted on Captain Sir Tom Moore's Twitter page, his daughter said: "I wanted to update everybody that today (Sunday 31 January) my father was admitted to hospital. "Over the last few weeks he was being treated for pneumonia and last week tested positive for Covid-19. "He was at home with us until today when he needed additional help with his breathing. He is being treated in a ward although he is not in ICU. "The medical care he has received in the last few weeks has been remarkable and we know that the wonderful staff at Bedford Hospital will do all they can to make him comfortable and hopefully return home as soon as possible. "We understand that everyone will be wishing him well. We are of course focusing on my father and will update you when we are able to." The message was signed off "Hannah x". It is not clear whether the veteran has been vaccinated, and there is no mention that he has had the jab on his social media pages...
