I think our schools are planning to return in some capacity, I myself won't be in, we've survived perfectly fine remotely, our whole M.O through this has been we'll do everything remotely unless some serious goes wrong and of course we'll go on-site and fix it but we haven't had anything like that at all

I am working remotely but that is only recent and I havent remoted into people's laptops as of yet.

The problem is that most of the stuff I do is time sensitive - the teacher cant get the whiteboard to be interactive, they cant get sound on their laptop etc etc etc

 

I think the message I have does originate with the MAT - that is, the HT is following their guidelines but they dont seem to have considered my rather unique position. I have just opened the email sent to parents and it makes a very big deal of the "bubble" concept - nobody mixes with anyone outside their bubble.Not sure where that leaves me.

No answer to my email this morning as yet

 

Perhaps you can continue to work from home and someone from the MAT who isn't vulnerable could arrange to be onsite as much as possible - I'm pretty sure you said the MAT has an IT Team previously?

Well since the MAT is your employer then they’ll have to find something that works.

Nothing formally notified yet, but there have been whispers of a return on 1^st of June. There is a staff briefing tomorrow, maybe we will hear something then...

Your employer should be making considerable effort to deal with your circumstances. It's a tricky one, but not wishing to sound trite, you will have to decide what's best for you. I'm registered as asthmatic too, but I can go years without using an inhaler so in the lower end. In my case my employer (a charity, but not a school) has already shown a willingness to work from home for the foreseeable future. I can do 99% of my work from home effectively, but I know it's largely good fortune with my current employer. I know with a degree of certainty that with the first school I worked with, the first head I worked at would have supported my needs and balanced the needs of the job with compassion. the replacement would have insisted I was in regardless.

Just had an email from the Head, after discussions with governors regarding health and safety, uncertainty as to whether government advice will change etc. it has been decided that we won't reopen until 8th June at the earliest for the "allowed" year groups.

The government has changed the message to schools will reopen FROM June 1st... subtle, but important

Looks like our schools will be reopening but with obviously limited years and limited support and teaching staff, going to be a bit annoying and potential anxiety and risk for the teaching/support staff that get dragged in I would think Edited May 21, 2020 by keyboards

Fireworks have actively been discouraged in our area due to pets getting upset.

The Thursday clapping round here was normal but the fireworks over to the left were missing

 

 

It is a bit difficult to tell who is actually out - people tend to clap from their doorway - so a lot of people are hidden by hedges, fences, cars, caravans etc etc etc

we can only really see 2 houses clearly due to the curvature of the road

 

but it sounded about normal

Quieter here. I think that as restrictions are being eased people are wanting to go back to normal.

Clapping has never looked/sounded particularly well attended in our street, but the next road over that started super enthusiastically has died down quite a bit the last couple of weeks and I can't help but feel we're a rainy Thursday away from it dying out all together around here. Is the BBC still showing it live?

My school has been open supporting students from key worker - thankfully I’ve been working from home.

 

From 1st June our staff are allowed in to prepare resources etc as we having year 10 & 12 in from the 8th June in classes for 10.

 

I’ve asked about IT support what if there are issues with equipment etc and they hadn’t thought about that or us - which makes me laugh as in a teaching staff meeting, they said for those year 10 & 12 remaining at home can watch the lesson online via a steamed lesson.

 

They asked me if it was possible and I said no as we didn’t have equipment eg webcam - so how they going to stream lesson I have no idea.

 

Hoping SLT say we can stay remote working as my technician has to travel over an hour on public transport and I have a 7 week old baby - so neither of us really want to have to go back.
