I would contact your wife's doctors and get an updated opinion on what she should do. I can't imagine they will say anything other than don't go to work. Ditto you because of your health and indeed that of your son.

Stay away and hopefully you will feel a bit less worried.

Total nonsense, it's either safe to turn up or it isn't, how can you get 95% of the staff work from home and then expect catering staff and one or two others to come in

Was supposed to go to Sri Lanka on Friday for the cricket; tour got called off and players sent home, from there me and my other half decided to not go.

 

- 4 hotels booked, two cancelled fine with no charge, one agreed to a refund and another is digging their heels in

- Flights cancelled but lumped with a £360 refund fee. Disputing this with Qatar and hoping for the best

 

Since all of this the Sri Lankan government has restricted travel from the UK from tomorrow and the FCO has advised against all but essential travel. Relieved that we appear to have made the right decision instead of making a holiday of it.

 

Now going back to work tomorrow where I expect to be swamped with queries about Teams; get the feeling staff are going to beg for A3 licenses so they can do live events, but we only have so many...

I have just heard that my sister is coming home from Spain early. She described the streets as almost completely empty. She also said that while walking around the streets she couldn't find anywhere that was open.

I do this sometimes!

 

I have noticed 2 things

a) the number fo flights over the Atlantic is normally like the M25 on a bad day - today it is FAR less busy

b) normally there are hardly any private jets - the number seesm to have increased quite significantly

 

guess it is all OK if you have the money!

I do this sometimes!

 

I have noticed 2 things

a) the number fo flights over the Atlantic is normally like the M25 on a bad day - today it is FAR less busy

b) normally there are hardly any private jets - the number seesm to have increased quite significantly

 

guess it is all OK if you have the money!

 

I often do this too (and watch BigJetTV). Been looking at Italy over the last week. Only flights to Moscow seem to be happening.

 

Spain reduced too.

Ferrari has shut down production at its Formula 1 and road-car factories in Italy for two weeks as a result of the coronavirus crisis.

 

It is part of a wider lockdown that began last week across badly-hit Italy.

 

Ferrari said the decision had been made "for its employees' wellbeing".

 

Chief executive officer Louis Camilleri said: "It is out of our respect for them, their peace of mind and of their families that we have decided on this course of action."

 

Staff who have laptops and the possibility to continue to work from home will do so, with Ferrari planning on being shut down until 27 March.

 

Italy is the worst affected country in Europe, with over 1,440 deaths so far.

 

Other F1 teams are carrying on working for now, despite the uncertainty over when the season will start this year.

 

Mercedes' two F1 factories in the UK will continue normal operations but all team members returning from Melbourne will self-isolate for 14 days.

 

Ferrari's decision comes after the F1 season was suspended following the cancellation of this weekend's Australian Grand Prix.

 

A decision to postpone the succeeding Bahrain and Vietnam races followed hours after the Melbourne race was called off on Friday morning in Australia. The Chinese Grand Prix, which had been scheduled to be the fourth event of the season, was postponed in February.

 

Governing body the FIA and commercial rights holder the F1 Group gave conflicting information in concurrent statements as to the likely next steps.

 

The FIA said it hoped "to begin the championship in Europe on 1 May", which is the scheduled start of the Dutch Grand Prix weekend, the first race after the long-haul events.

 

But F1, which controls the calendar, said in its statement that both organisations "expect to begin the championship in Europe at the end of May, but given the sharp increase in COVID-19 cases in Europe in recent days, this will be regularly reviewed".

 

That suggests a start date of the Monaco Grand Prix, which is currently scheduled for 22-24 May.

 

In reality, neither may be possible and insiders say that in fact F1 is tentatively planning at this stage for the season to start with the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on 7 June.

 

There will be a rejig of the calendar and an attempt to cram in as many of the postponed races as possible before the end of the year, although some will inevitably fall by the wayside.

 

And any start date depends on the progress of plans to control the spread of the coronavirus around the globe.

I work very close to LHR, and can see the planes on approach out of my office window. Usually I get one every 30 seconds or so, but ever since the slot rules were loosened they've become far less frequent.

I don't know about you, but I'm trying to isolate myself to the office as much as possible and minimise my movements around the school to lesson times!

Got an email today from "Captain" Robert Brown of the band Abney Park, who has decided to try to make up the band's loss of income from cancelled gigs by having a special "Quarantined" concert - streaming on the internet.

We have 20 staff self-isolating with coughs - our HR Manager seems to think that most are "transporting the urine", but in times like these and given our vulnerable students you can't take chances.

 

I've asked the janitor to give the sign-in system and other frequently-touched items in Reception a good spray with alcohol-based disinfectant during the day to minimise risk.

It appears that our school will do everything in their power to keep the school open, even if he government announces closures. So if the call is made, our students without symptoms are still expected to come in. Failing that, just year 11 students are expected to come in with a 'skeleton staff'.

Putting aside anything else, if the Government mandates school closures, surely not closing would be breaking the law?

If instructed to close by central government, staying open will undoubtedly invalidate the school’s insurance.

 

This needs some thought!
