mikeprice Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 I worked in a school that used a DataVac Air Duster - expensive at the start but FAR FAR better than the cans - and saves overall shop around - the prices vary! personally I would get a cordless version equivalent - you don;t need as much power and the cable can be a pain in some places personally I use a rechargeable compressor that is really designed for blowing up paddling pools and other garden stuff - its a bit wimpy but does the job - and I got it for about £4 in an ebay sale thing If you insist on using cans - they all spray liquid if they are not vertical - when I have used them I just choose a pack of 3-4 and get the cheapest from amazon just remember not to spray them into a projector when the bulb is hot It is spectacular - but probably not very professional - or good for the bulb!!!

Mistert89 Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 We bought a Screwfix compressor, air gun and extension hose. Wheel it round on a trolley and just take the hose into the room. High pressure blow of PCs and projectors. All the usual H&S precautions with compressed air. The other issue is that some/many/most cans use highly flammable propellant (or used to) so don’t blow live equipment with a flame thrower!!! Check if you do use them. In reality, the compressor is long term cheapest option. 1
3s-gtech Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Bear in mind with a steel tank compressor that you should use a water/moisture trap if using it to clean electronics - otherwise you can be spraying your kit with a nice fine water vapour. 1

It's ALWAYS been a problem wherever I've worked. My preferred method was outside, with a hoover going to catch the bulk of the crud, and a dust mask so you can still breathe! I'd also recommend goggles to avoid eye irritation, and forming a schedule so that computers can be cleaned on a regular basis to avoid the buildup getting too bad! 1

It's ALWAYS been a problem wherever I've worked. Can vouch for these - I have the Xpert version and can't fault it really - far more reliable than the cans. Not exactly quiet, and the power cord is a bit short for personal preference, but a long 1 gang extension lead makes it far more useable.
