Hi All,

Looking to find a free software package that will allow me to isstall (and uninstall) software packages on a suite of PC's. I do NOT want to get the server involved if possible.

What solutions in this area do you guys use?

Veyon, previously iTalc, might be able to do this for you, or at least, start the installer off, taking some of the pain away.

If the software is on Ninite that can make life easier too, at least to install the software.

Otherwise you're looking at scripting/powershell if you don't want a server involved.

Others here use PDQ Deploy. I think you could just stick the free version on your PC and not have to involve any servers at all. Don't use it myself so apologies if that's not accurate info.

I was lookking at PDQ deploy and before my time we had a license for it. Sadly no more. - I googled "alternative to" and oddly there isnt a free alternative to anything thats mainstream.

I have the paid for version of PDQ deploy and inventory (£450pa each) and I couldn't live without it, a brilliant bit of software.

I agree. I know that the OP wanted a free product but I couldn't imagine life without PDQ Deploy and PDQ Inventory.

Use the free version of PDQ Deploy.

If the software you're installing is a multi-step process, create a batch file that does it all and then deploy that using PDQ Deploy.

WPKG is a free open source solution

I had this in mind but it doesn't seem to have been developed since 2014.

Interesting.... a colleague at a previous place, only started using this in about 2016/2017. I didn't know development had stopped.
