DalekSec Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Has this started working for anyone? Still not working here.
MrWu Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 My admin portal has been slow and very intermittent today, sometimes completely down I have also had issues with staff reverting to student filtering level even when they switch on their PC and login first thing...
stevo1565 Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 @SchoolsBroadband could you contact me direct to discuss matters

caffrey Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 (edited) Interface is excruciatingly slow, with some timeouts *edit* can someone please give the hamsters a kick ? Edited October 2, 2019 by caffrey
SchoolsBroadband Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 (edited) Afternoon all, with the issue we had the other day we've been very careful with putting some of the servers we took out of our load balancing pool back in as the last thing we want to do is to effect peoples Internet connections which have previously been stable using Netsweeper. The Google Captcha issue is likely happening because we have removed about 50% of our capacity as a temporary measure. We're adding in another 25% tonight and the final 25% the day after which will fix the Google Captch issue. The issue relates to Google blacklisting IP addresses when it see's in its eyes too many connections coming from a single IP address. Our emails to them to get them whitelisted goes constantly unanswered and they have been extremley unhelpful. I suspect thats why Updata / Link2ICT / Entrust also have the issue. Once more servers are added back into our cluster this issue will be resolved. The slow Webadmin issue is rather complex to say the least. We are going to make a change to the underlying Linux operating system this evening. We do not want to do this in the day time in case in has a negative effect on the platform which I'm sure you'll all appreciate is the right thing to do as we don't want to break anything. It may also have a positive effect on the change in filtering policy from staff to pupil we are occasionally seeing. We have engaged with Netsweeper support throughout this issue and I'm sure we will have it resolved shortly. Our primary focus is to ensure customers have filtered Internet access and we don't want to jeopordise that for the 1,500 or so customers which are currently live on the platform. I'll post an update when I have more information to tell you. Thanks for your patience. Dave Edited October 2, 2019 by SchoolsBroadband
SVM Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Netsweeper Webadmin down for us, was working early this morning 1
SchoolsBroadband Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Hi all, we've made a number of changes to the Webadmin. if anyone is getting slow load issues please do let me know. Thanks Dave 2
snagrat Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 Was much snappier for me earlier today 1
andy_b Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Does any one have problems with the "Request Log Files" page. While trying to watch traffic from a client it will randomly have a "Connection Error" and fail. It makes it hard to troubleshoot filtering issues. 3
SVM Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Yes, constantly and has been around before they started having issues recently, have a ticket open but nothing has been done about it 3
SchoolsBroadband Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Thanks @andy_b and @SVM for bringing that to my attention. I'll speak with the NOC guys today. Dave
caffrey Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 It's the same here, timeouts - thought it was just me
MrWu Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Sorry to add to the woes The following problems (which we are aware of when we had Netsweeper go live in Sept) has come back quite aggressively this past week: A) Wagent icon on taskbar just spinning and not fetching IP and login info on PCs B) staff filter dropping to student levels even when they have rebooted or logged off overnight .. for example, just coming into work. Have raised issues with these (and to be honest, the filter support team are very helpful) but often they couldn’t even access their own Netsweeper portal because they are down too !
SchoolsBroadband Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Hi @MrWu A) I'm not sure on that one myself B) This could be to do with the timer from the Wagent or the Webadmin issue we saw which did affect some users authentication for a short while. The portal issue is now definitely resolved and may also have affected the issues you've said here. We've since fixed the Webadmin issue so these should be resolved. If they are not then please do get in touch with the support team. I know cases are still quite high at the moment. If you're still struggling please send me a PM. Thanks Dave 1
MrWu Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Thanks, will do The other thing I don’t know whether you are aware of is the way YouTube can be blocked has also changed recently, as in it still blocked if you unblock the category (streaming media) - this previously ran ok, and now flagging YouTube as mixed content / social networking category .. now we can add YouTube URL into the whitelist as an alternative method but on testing this it allowed students to access adult content ... Have logged call and awaiting solution

andy_b Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 There is a database connection problem which does not allow the WebAdmin to use NSD configuration database. Please make sure that the service is running on the server and the database exists.
SVM Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Netsweeper agent issues today as well, could not find IP therefore default filtering in random PCs, support said its a wider issue, web admin performance improved tho
MrWu Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Same here, helpdesk promised patch that will fix this for good next week .. hope they succeed... these few weeks have been challenging and staff haven’t been impressed with us switching over to SBB ... 1
SchoolsBroadband Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Evening all, I've a meeting with our Technical Director tomorrow morning. We have had an issue with the Web admins although that on the whole was resolved. However we've a case open with Netsweeper around the use of agents and some of the issues you mentioned. The issue has been very adhoc and doesnt affect everyone. We believe we know why and it's with Netsweeper to diagnose. We are Netsweepers biggest Wagent user in the world which is why we and they havent since this issue elsewhere before. I'll put an update up as soon as I have it. Just so others understand there are no outages here, just some auth issues for a subset of users in certain scenarios when using wagent. I'll be in touch. Dave 1
MrWu Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 @SchoolsBroadband Thanks for the update Sorry slightly off topic, who do I contact at higher level in terms of implementation team ? We have been chasing up SBB to run an acceptance test for the backup line since August and have heard nothing .. also struggling to get advice on how to integrate our Unifi / NPS server radius to Netsweeper ... we’ve again asked for callback since August and had nothing. If you can lead me to the right channel to speed this up I would be most grateful ...
SchoolsBroadband Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Hi again. The escalation matrix will have been sent by our delivery team. Can you pm me your details please and I'll get an engineer on it for you asap? Thanks Dave 1

Unifi \ NPS does work - I have it working here Get Shaun the NOC engineer on it, I got fobbed off and blamed so much getting this working and he fixed it in an hour, it's to do with the accounting packets needing the SBB bit adding on e.g NAME+ @NSW-00000@00000 which can only be done on their side You also need generate class attribute setting to false in the radius attributes of your connection request policy 1
