I am insanely jealous, but this thread brings to mind this classic secondhand ad... :D

PS - I'll open the bidding at £150 when you get told you're not allowed to keep it ;)

How about...

Tech_guy gets home: "Hi Darling, I've had a great day... I got a tax refund (or other plausible excuse) of £550 odd quid. I decided to spoil myself and get an Xbox 360 - What are you going to spend your half on?"

It'll cost ya but you'll be flavour of the month and get to keep your Xbox...:D

I like it! I would definately have to spend the same amount (or more) on myself to make up for an 'unauthorised' purchase:D

Speaking as someone who owns six bikes, two kayaks, three snowboards, three guitars, a mixing desk and digital recording machine, a photo lighting studio, two welding machines and a camper van the 'wife price' is quite handy tool. But to be fair, most of these have been genuinely good buys. Ahem.

Can you come round to my house tonight and tell my wife this so she realises how lucky she is!!

I got the kitchen refitted on the back of an unauthorised very large TV/sky purchase just before the last world cup :D

I was a * tiny * bit irritated that planned expenditure had gone on the back burner!

Pah. If I want something I'll buy it - its my money and I've earnt it! Same for her - if she wants something then thats up to her, I wouldnt interfere!

But then we aren't married, just living together so I guess I cant really talk!
