Christmas Card Class Lists

It's that time of year!

 

Just had the first parent in asking for a class list so that they can write Christmas cards for their child's classmates.

 

My instinct is telling me "no" so I put her off for a week. Seems a bit mean.

 

What do you think?

A List of first names? A blanket ban with a cheery reply of 'sorry, GDPR!'

I think a list of first names would be fine, it doesn't identify the child or contain confidential data. Someone obviously has a lot of spare time on their hands...

After years of aggravation about class lists we started using https://classlist.com/ and it all became the PTAs problem.

So if that parent looses the list of names, parent who is blocked from seeing their kid finds said list, knows they go to that school, knows which class and who their kid hangs around with who is responsible?

 

Answer from me would be no, if kids want to send a card to the kids then surely they would know who is in their class? We used to know who was in our class when we was at school without a list.

Adam, Brian, Kirsty, Emily, Rhian, John, Cthulthu, Robert, Hannah... forenames can be distinctive enough for this to be an issue!

A list of first names would be fine - to be given out by the class teacher - nothing to do with IT

I've just been approached by Ph'nglui and he has withdrawn consent for his full name to be used, with confirmation to be sent to his father Mr Fhtag immediately.

Do the children not know who is in their class? I'm sure even at primary school, I could name all my classmates.
