Bromcom is down to be there, have they actually made the past few years?

I think we need a spin off thread to see who is going to be there.

Just checking the link, and i see iSAMs didn't appear in the search. Interesting.

By category: Scholarpack, Furlong, Arbor.

Double First is there with Engage, i guess not on the category list as they have a separate room, not a stand. Is Bromcom the same?

Anyone fancy going through manually and building up the list....?

Update:

So far we have -

MIS (category):

Arbor (C65), Bromcom (B320), Furlong (SchoolBase)(B74), iSAMS (E180), Scholarpack (D112), WCBS

MIS (general supplier list):Bromcom (B320), Double First (Engage), PowerSchool (B357), Tribal Group (Tribal Edge), WCBS

Integrators:

Groupcall (D191), Ruler IT (C403), SalamanderSoft (B288), Wonde (D140)

Analysis:

4Matrix (E360), Sisra (D410)

We have a cohort gong to look specifically at MIS, mainly Bromcom, so some guarantee they'll be there would be good.

They are in the list of suppliers but not by MIS category. Not sure if they’ve made it in recent years because I haven’t been but I know they pulled out some years ago and then didn’t appear again for a while.

Bromcom was definitely there last year; I specifically sought them out to have a play.

Smaller MIS suppliers not turning up isn't a surprise. A market player as massive as Capita on the other hand is a big shock and raises quite a few questions.

Do they have nothing to sell this year? No new updates coming down the pipeline? SIMS 8 isn't raising headlines so you'd think they would be aggressively pushing that, or is there something up with it?

EDIT - Apparently they are attending an academies trade show in November at the Birmingham NEC.

I spoke to a salesperson from Bromcom the other day and they said they are definitely at BETT in January. Not sure in what capacity... Finance/MIS/both?

There's also an event in Salford Quays they are holding at the end of the month for those interested. A product we are looking very closely at now within our MAT.

So I heard a rumour last week that Capita won't be at the BETT 2019 show...

Could this perhaps be because of their delays in Sims 8 and the recent upheavals in senior staff?

EDIT: Indeed they are missing from the suppliers list on the BETT website: https://www.bettshow.com/bett-suppliers-list?azletter=C

I dont think they need to be there each year as I cant imagine they get much new business (if any from it).

Very true but they always launch new products each year and showcase what they have been working on. This year there appears to be nothing to showcase! I think that might be the real reason they are not showing up.

They had a huge stand last year, with knowledgeable staff and plenty of demo systems of SIMS Secondary to play with. It even started to make me see them in a slightly more positive light. While they may not drum up much new business, if they're not there this time I think it'll be a PR exercise missed, even if they are having to make excuses for delays to product development. Other providers could easily steal the march, especially with some many MATs forming and expanding.

And that's the big thing, No MAT is going to choose Sims because its simply not designed to be used over multiple schools.

The only real choice that I can see is Bromcom or iSams really for these types of organisation, and their market shares is only going to increase as more schools move into MATs. Capita has a lot to loose.

Having run stands at BETT I can fully appreciate why *any* supplier might pull for a year or two and concentrate on other events. It’s down to how many people you can see and RoI... something the BETT owners have been nagged on over many years.

There is now a new owner for BETT and a number of the team that *really* understand BETT are taking a more pivotal role ... so we *will* see changes over the next few years ... and that could mean some suppliers drop for a year to focus on other events (some of which are owned by the same people).

But does this really apply to Capita...? Possibly the most used company in education?

MyAccount Statement

After many years of attending the annual Bett show in January, Capita has decided not to exhibit at the event in 2019.

We have made this decision because we believe how we need to effectively engage with our customers has changed. This is supported by feedback from our customers and analysis of interactions at the show.

Therefore, we are going to invest the time and money we normally put into Bett very differently. Concentrated on more effective ways of engaging with our customers such as more regional events and increased digital content. Whilst we have already started to put some of this in place, we are interested in working with you to understand what digital content you would find most useful and also what types of events we should run/attend with you. We’d appreciate any ideas you have and would like to capture them here

* Smaller, more regional events: Our research shows that people would prefer smaller, more regional events. We’ll be attending and organising more regional events throughout the year, so we don’t just meet customers predominantly located in the south east, over a small timeframe in January each year. If you’d like to work with us on this please share your ideas. More details of some the roadshows already scheduled, including the LearnEd regional roadshows run by the DfE and BESA.

* More digital content: We’d like to understand what content you’d like to see more of in terms of webinars, demonstrations, how to videos, video case studies and what format is most useful. Please share your ideas. In the meantime take a look at our current webinar programme.

* More Strategic Partnerships: We will be partnering with key education publications such as the TES, THE and i25 and others to bring customers great content that will address the issues they face or get the most out of their software solutions – all in the online places many of you visit multiple times each week for educational news, updates and commentary. See an example of a new content partnership with TES for Reading Cloud

Capita ESS remains absolutely committed to education – living and breathing it every day, working hard to create software and services that deliver actionable insight, improve decision making and simplify communication with staff, parents and students. Our aim has not changed - to make the process of education simpler, and help raise standards in teaching and learning and help our customers deliver improved outcomes for learners.

Well clearly not as they haven't posted it on here and doesn't "all in the online places many of you visit multiple times each week for educational news, updates and commentary." sound like EduGeek?

They mention TES, perhaps we’re looking at the statement aimed at teachers looking for jobs.

There was also no national user group meeting for LA's using Capita One this year. This has in the past been a set over a couple of days with an overnight stay. Nothing this year....... Given that we pay nearly £40k just for support (excluding-maintenance), you would expect a user group of some description and a road map!

Seem to be lots of belt tightening across the board.

Capita Education arm was considered the loss making division of Capita, so maybe they are prepping the way for a sell off...

Really Vik - that is quite a statement - can you elaborate further ?
