LeMarchand Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Trying to find the weirdest spanish thing to bring, the nicest is defiantly the Jamon but won't keep with the travelling back That leg of meat that they have behind the bar everywhere? That's probably been there a couple of years or so? Won't that stuff survive Nuclear Armageddon?

mikeprice Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Organise one. We said all along that informal meets can just be started by anyone. You're retired now. You have the time No I don't I've got 6 hours of Tour de France to watch every day and the Open has just started and the German Grand Prix is this weekend and somehow I have to catch up with the Indycar racing and don't even get me started on sorting out which episodes of Wheeler Dealers I need to watch and amogst all this I have the cooking and cleaning (OK i skimp on that) to get done - and my wife need feeding Damn exhausting this retirement 2

Oaktech Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Ok, last call for people who want a lift from the Poole/Bournemouth area... I have Witch and Oracle, any more for any more? If I only have 2 passengers I'll bring the car, if I get any more then I'll borrow the people carrier. My plan is to get to Salisbury around 11:45, most people seem to be arriving on the train a bit later, but hey, I'm sure we can all 'network' for a bit! Probably leaving from Poole about 10:30 and picking up en-route,
AJWhite1970 Posted July 24, 2018 Author Posted July 24, 2018 All good here for Thursday. Going for a minor switch to plan B, going to hold the social on the Head Masters lawn instead of the cathedral grounds, only because there is more shade on the lawn and it's forecast to be stupidly hot and sunny. I'll go shopping in the morning, pick up bread, dips, butter, salad and some drinks, the rest I leave up to you as a general rule of thumb for the picnic, one plate of something for you and another for the table, something liquid and hopefully we'll have a veritable feast for everyone to enjoy. For any last minute travel directions etc, drop me a PM and I'll get back to you. I'll leave signs out for where to park etc 2
LeMarchand Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Cas still thinks i'm just taking her out on a very expensive date night, she hasn't got a clue its a meet up @failnator @DalekSec Just thought: Is the first part of this "real"? There may be some fallout if not - especially if an outfit is involved.

If I was driving I'd be tempted to bring the portable gas grill. Mmm... sausages...
StevieM Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 If I was driving I'd be tempted to bring the portable gas grill. Mmm... sausages... Hmmm... That could be a possibility. I am hoping to camp overnight on the way down and I'll need something to brew my morning coffee on.
DalekSec Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 I'm not getting home till past midnight tomorrow, so will set an alarm so i don't miss the train. Also sorry but not spanish food! I haven't had the chance to get something last couple days, unless anyone wants any duty free rip off brand vodka Will buy some food in Salisbury tommorow and head over 1
StevieM Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Right! Ludlow campsite for overnight stopover - booked Degus - cage cleaned and care arranged Packing - started (to be continued when I get back from our Leavers' Celebration) That just leaves a quick tidy round the house, loading up the car, and a visit to see my mum after school tomorrow before I head off. I may just get to the campsite this side of midnight tomorrow. 1
DJ-1701 Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend due to family reasons. I hope you all have a great time though. 1
elsiegee40 Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Son was moved to his new home today and the M25 behaved long enough for me to get back in time to buy food. My journey starts on the 09:39 1
Andrew_C Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Holiday packing permitted, I'll be bringing my bike out to play!
AJWhite1970 Posted July 25, 2018 Author Posted July 25, 2018 (edited) Looking forward to seeing everyone again tomorrow. Will be on-site from 9:30am so if anyone needs any directions or gets lost PM me. For those of you coming from the station who need to go via Tesco, leave the station as normal with the high wall on your left and then follow the long straight road all the way down to the traffic lights with Jarwardins cafe on the left. Turn left and follow the very narrow path as it forks right past the church (it turns hard right then hard left) and once you surface, Tesco is 100 yards down on your left just past the still guarded radioactive cafe... To get back to Bish, reverse your path back to the cafe, then keep going straight on, under the main gate and turn left at the security hut. The black door on the Close is closed (the one with the Goulding plaque) so make your way round and use the Exeter street entrance on the main road. For those of you parking, we are expecting some large deliveries tomorrow so please park on the left hand side of the car park (anywhere near the bus, yes it's still there...) There are motorbike spaces just past receptions front door before the ramp. I'll leave plenty of signs out to direct everyone to the lawn Edited July 25, 2018 by AJWhite1970 1
Andrew_C Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Holiday packing permitted, I'll be bringing my bike out to play!Actually, the one thing I'm missing is the name of the school. I can tell from the map roughly where it is...
