Thanks for this - very good.

 

Couple of things I noticed:-

 

Option to hide Active "Split mode" mode bold text/option on the Candidate Information screen?

 

I could only change one option within the ConfigEditorGUI and then the drop down menu went blank.

Closing and reopening the program fixes it.

 

Typing within a visual page break seemed to make future text underneath it change to the colour blue as well.

I will add a config option in to hide “Activate Splitscreen” completely.

I have discovered a problem with it. If a student fails to fill in one of the boxes on the candidate information page it crashes everything, greys the box out and just burps at me everytime anything is pressed. The only way out is to stop the programme and start again. How do I fix this, or when it crashes recover everything without stressing the student.

Also box for candidate information, despite being set to, does not launch when the programme is started.

Hi,

 

Can you tell which box in particular does it burp at you?

 

The issue doesn’t happen for me.

 

Also with regards the candidate info box showing on startup, can you paste here your config file do I can see what options you have set.

The burp occurs, when the student sends to print. Candidate information comes up, and if any of the boxes, such as candidate name, is left blank the programme freezes, the box greys out with error messages, but it is impossible to do anything else. Every time the mouse is clicked it burps or pings at me, and the only way out of the programme is to bring up the task master and stop the programme.

Your config file is fine for me and I ran it, Startup screen appeared, then clicked on start new, then up popped the candidate information window. Any chance you could send me a video/screen recording if the startup process?

 

 

With regards printing, if you don't fill in the candidate information window fully on startup then it will lock you out if you fail to fill in all the boxes, I will fix this ASAP.

Ok I have fixed the issue when the screen freezes upon printing with empty/missing form fields. I will release it later today.

 

With regards your other issue, I’m not sure where to start but given that you can still fill in the details at print time, it’s not so bad.

 

I’ll have to have a think about this one....

Release Notes:

2.3.8.0

FIXED: Candidate information window would freeze when pressing either print button, not allowing you to fill in missing fields that were blank.

 

2.3.7.0

FIXED: Visual page break font would stay blue instead of reverting back to the screen colour.

 

2.3.6.0

FIXED: ConfigEditorGUI, XML file on save wasn’t not unloaded stopping you from changing other options.

 

FIXED: ConfigEditorGUI, an option that uses 0 or 1 but is actually blank would throw an exception and crash, so now it sets the default to 0 allowing to save it.

 

ADDED: New config option ‘DisableSplitScreenAllSizes’ which will completely disable the ability to offer splitscreen facility. Existing configs will need to add the option manually and set it to 1 or 0. ConfigEditorGUI has this option also to set.

Thank you, just installed it and tried it. Really good. Just need to sell it to my SENCO, who prefers word as they can put boxes in to plan their work. Still cannot get the student window to open on launch even though it is set, so must be a setting at my end. I will get my IT Guy when he has 5 minutes to check my computer settings. Looks really good.

 

My students, work on a laptop, save their work to memory stick and bring to me to print. There will not be a problem with this will there? Just want to check all basis before I give it to a student to do work and then I can't print it.

Good to know it fits the requirements. A lot of schools have adopted it too.

 

With regards USB, as long as you don’t have any computer/group policy restrictions on USB devices then you should be ok, again check with your IT folk.

Sorry- My Head of IT will not allow us to download the software unless she knows what data you will use ( will you have any access to our students' work... will you have any access to student details....etc)

 

Do you require any data from us to be able to download the program?

 

I think she is being cautious about malware, viruses etc as well as GDPR.

I see, a bit over kill but totally understandable.

 

You download for free from this forum, you launch it, and everything you input stays on the PC and doesn’t go anywhere else.

 

The software doesn’t need an internet connection and the software doesn’t collect any usage data or information.

Changing the Text View area from full to A4 and/or vice versa makes the menu text labels disappear (only the icons show along the top).

 

2)

The character map option (Basic Accents/Characters) doesn't seem to appear on the first click.

Works if clicking on it a second time. Not sure if it's something to do with focus on top.

With regards point 1, I can’t get this to happen, no matter how I switch A4/full or even activate slip screen. The text label on the menu bar stay.

 

Can you screen shot me what you are left with in terms of no labels please. Also can you send over your config do I can test and also let me know you screen resolution just in case it’s related to that.

 

In terms of point 2, I get the same so will investigate further.
