Saw something that said they had recently switched their deliveries to DHL - who had technical difficulties

There must have been some uncomfortable meetings going on!

I read that too

They’re probably looking in the wrong place for the stuff that’s been delivered. Has it been thrown over a gate or is it under the bins?

Last week, KFC switched its delivery contract to DHL, which blamed "operational issues" for the supply disruption.
We delivered them at 10:20, but there was nobody in. We lobbed them over the fence. Not our problem if they went missing after that....

Apparently one problem was that the old distributor told KFC that if they didn't get all of the stock being held in their distribution centre by 'x' date it would be left outside.

This then had vehicles which should have been out doing deliveries going to pick up this stock and transporting it to the new warehouses.

Package meant for Kentucky Fried Chicken in Bristol mistakenly delivered to Bristol Fried Chicken in Kentucky.

I'll stick to my local butcher, all locally sourced meat and cheaper and more tastier :)

So was Sweeney Todd's* ;).

Maybe not the tastier part.

* Or Mrs. Lovett's, for the pedantic.

All I can say is all the fast food industry is crap!

Don't eat any of that sh*t.....not healthy and deffo not hygenic handled....no wonder we have a fat people crisis in the UK....just like America we becoming FAT and lazy...no one cooks anymore....kids think chickens actually come from the supermarket as with many other products....shocking really...brought my children up to be totally independent of fast food and they adhere to this as they both cook very well and wouldn't entertain rubbish food such as the large franchises peddle....

No cure for laziness......but then maybe I'm just an old fuddy duddy?..........Very fit and healthy one though!!! :)

Eh, fast food has its place. It's not meant to be healthy. Sure, some of them might market themselves as being healthier than some others, but that's not the point.

The point is it's fast.

That's why it's called fast food.

Decent cooking isn't going to get you very far when you're out in the town centre at 3pm on a Saturday and all the cafes are packed

This idea that fast food is causing the obesity crisis is a little bit over-exaggerated. Sure, it plays its part. Deep-fried chicken isn't the healthiest option in the world, no. But calories in is only half of the problem. The other half is calories out (or the lack thereof)

Its called will power.....you don't need to eat every second of the day or night....that's why we becoming a nation of Fatties!!!

Hate to say that word but its true and its because we are being groomed into eating that crap!!

It doesn't have a place in any of my thinking...but then who am I.....just someone who is sick to death of paying hard earned cash to support the NHS who have to deal with a crisis of Fat unhealthy people who chose to over eat and eat fast food crap their entire life as it becomes an addiction and purely out of being too damn lazy to cook fresh food which only takes minutes....when as you say fast food is not just that....people queue for 10...20....30...minutes at all these fast food places...so you either control your intake and build up your resistance to eating at all times of the day and night or you become addicted to fast food its that simple....its been documented all over the place that fast food is killing people stealthily....not my place to tell people how to eat.....just my opinion.....just saying like....not wishing to upset anyone.....:)

Fast food has it's place (not always the bin!). Recent convention I went to we stopped at services for a Burger King as it's all that was available and we aren't going to wait ages for cafe food anyway on a journey. At the hotel the fast food counter was much cheaper than the bar food and we could take it back to our table to eat. The last day also had a salad bar which was rather healthy (although wiped out somewhat by the box being a solid and heavy block of everything).

But at home? No pizzas or boxed meals here, fresh cooked food and even some tinned stuff for when I need to make a meal quickly. Plus it's more fun than nuking a salty spagbol in the microwave.

But judging by your avatar, you're OK with funding the NHS who have to deal with people giving themselves cancer via smoking?

At least food is a necessity to, y'know, the whole 'living' thing. Smoking ain't so much.

as it becomes an addiction and purely out of being too damn lazy to cook fresh food which only takes minutes....

Minutes? I beg to differ. I find that the vast majority of recipes take a minimum of 20-30 minutes. Hardly something you can do when you're out and about. I tend to find that there isn't enough space for an oven, fridge and kitchen cupboard in my daily 'out and about' bag..

It's also not about laziness. Numerous studies have found that it's actually considerably more expensive to eat healthy than unhealthy. Granted this isn't quite so much about takeaways or fast food, but in the grand scheme of things, you'll find that financially struggling families often have poorer diets because it's more affordable for them, and that also contributes to the lack of proper diet in society.

when as you say fast food is not just that....people queue for 10...20....30...minutes at all these fast food places...

Dunno what fast food places you've been going to, but that's sounds pretty exaggerated to me. I've never had to wait longer than maybe 5 minutes on a 'normal' day, and any time people are queuing up for longer you can bet the town/shopping centre/venue/etc is so rammed there's no space anywhere else either (restaurants, cafes, etc).

so you either control your intake and build up your resistance to eating at all times of the day and night or you become addicted to fast food its that simple....

Or you, y'know, eat it once in a while like a normal person. It's completely fine to have the occasional burger/chicken/pizza/etc as long as there's no CI/CO surplus in the long-term. Ordering a pizza or a curry once a week isn't going to end up with you being this hypothetical burden on the NHS you put forward.

]its been documented all over the place that fast food is killing people stealthily....

Over-simplifying it to suit your argument is a serious misrepresentation of the issue. Fast food doesn't kill people. Unhealthy diets cause issues that kill people.

Coronary heart disease kills people. Diabetes kills people. These things can be brought on as a result of a vastly unhealthy diet. This is true. Too much fast food in your diet can result in it becoming unhealthy, which in turn leads to the aforementioned issues. Also true. But to say flat-out that "fast food kills people" is oversimplifying it to absurdity.

All-in-all, the issue is considerably more nuanced than you give it credit for. It's not just 'people being lazy'. Sometimes it is, undoubtedly. But I fail to see that there's anything wrong with grabbing a quick burger whilst you're out and about.

Ooops. Sorry @elsiegee40, was typing out as you made your reply. Perhaps it's worth splitting off?

:mod: Just a reminder that this thread is about KFC running out of chicken and not the merits, or otherwise, of eating fast food.

:focus:

Back on topic please :)

As stated before.. Back on topic please. I don't have time to spilt the thread right now. If you want it done, please report the opening post in the deviation and request it or simply start another thread

Apparently they are still having problems - it is ages now and they are still having to close more places

I can't imagine why they haven't been able to at least start to get some improvement - even if it costs them loads - at least to give some less worse publicity

someone must have REALLY messed up!!!

I don't think the publicity particularly matters. KFC is KFC. If you like it, you like it. You're most likely still going to go there once this is all resolved. Nobody is going to decide "Oh, I would go to KFC, but they didn't have chicken that one time, so now I won't eat there." lol. They're haemorrhaging money, most likely, but I don't reckon they'll lose many customers.

It does make me wonder, though.. The issue is apparently in the delivery of said chicken, I presume the supply isn't impeded. So, what? Are there warehouses full of frozen chicken where workers are just twiddling their thumbs waiting on a lorry to show up? Or is it all in the back of wagons already and just not going anywhere?

Not at our Maccy Ds this weekend it wasn't ;)

..and it's never that fast! I'm sat there waiting thinking "I could've easily cooked something, and a lot more nutritious with a lot less hassle than this!" :)

That's what I was thinking

But if so - why can't they just get some refrigerated vans and load them up and deliver some of it - seems like even that is not possible

someone somewhere is going to be talking to lawyers and talking about big numbers - but does the blame lie with DHL, the old delivery people being akward - or did KFC just mess up the switchover??

as far as publicity is concerned - you may be right - the people who could suffer most could be DHL - what manager is going to walk into a boardroom at the moment and recommend a contract with them
