Opened it up (Small little Hp thing)... smells very fragrant in here.... there was a tea bag jammed in the main pick up roller and had since burst ending up with tea leafs all around the printer. Was a write off, the tea leafs messed around with the sensors and never got it working again!

chrisakak9 Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 down the spilt liquids in laptops line the worst by far was by my sisters other half who managed to spill most of a bottle of Sambuca into his. it smelt lovley but had basically just turned into sugar all over everything! 1 full can of isopropyl, new cpu fan, scapping the integrated track pad and using an external mouse (didnt want to pay for new top cover) and many hours later i got the thing back on renaming the machine to sticky sam and handing it back.
jthompson Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 I have two laptops next door that were vomited over during a lesson. The bulk of it was cleaned of by the site agents, but now it falls to me to deep clean the keyboard and all the nooks and crannies to remove all the little bits of residue.

FishCustard Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Any custard with it? Haha, unfortunately not. I was tidying up the IT suite after the little angels had left, and noticed that, well, something smelled a bit fishy. I opened the printer tray and there was a mackerel staring back at me. 1
elsiegee40 Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Back in the olden days (1990s) when I worked for an insurance company, the biggest issue was stuff spilt on keyboards. The drinks machines we had dispensed dry powder into a cup and you then filled with hot water. There was coffee, tea (powder -yuk!), dried milk, sugar, hot chocolate and soup. Coffee/tea orders were done digitally... 111 being 1 shot coffee, 1 shot milk, 1 shot sugar... I drank 100. The most deadly for keyboards was either a 200 hot chocolate or the soup. Both of them set like concrete on impact. Keyboards never recovered.
FishCustard Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 I think I can beat that - I was once asked to look at a laptop that had been fished out of the Thames. It was in a leather bag, but had spent one full tide on the riverbed... unsurprisingly it didn't work, nor could I recover any data from the HDD.
DCUK6 Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 (edited) Took a macbook apart and found little bugs in it, macs can get bugs you know. Luckily they were dead. Same macbook also had a battery that looked like the battery was about to pop. Empty crisp packets, odd occasion i find money, pens. Edited March 5, 2018 by DCUK6
