southhamster Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Has no one told the weather that it is meant to be spring yet?... Then again, last time we had snow, Great Northern actually ran a relatively decent train service! That's cos northerners are well 'ard not like softy southern 3rd rail trains
just_david Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 damn snow, i can't be bothered with this fluffy white b******t, i have stuff to do this weekend. The worst of it is, my fridge is empty, so i genuinly have to brave the panic buyers again to get food. freekin soft as s***e southerners >.>
6Foot2 Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Yellow rain: Wednesday, Thursday. Yellow snow and ice: Friday, Saturday. Yellow snow: Sunday. Things have moved on!
FishCustard Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 ... the hell? It's March! Is this part of Putin's tit-for-tat after the expulsion of diplomats? Weather war?
HTCPCP Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 That's cos northerners are well 'ard not like softy southern 3rd rail trains We even have heating (for about 3 days a year) on our trains down here! 1

There are rules about this sort of thing. We get it properly once every 8-10 years and the rest of the time we get a few flakes that cause chaos but have melted in a few hours. We have had our once in 8-10 years a fortnight ago. We had lots, we got it before the rest of the country and it stuck around a long time. It was even minus double digits. That's it. No more until 2026! Them's the rules.

6Foot2 Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Link: 'Mini Beast from the East' brings fresh snow warnings - BBC News ...The cold weather is only expected to last a few days - by Tuesday temperatures will be getting back to average for the time of year...
elsiegee40 Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Link: 'Mini Beast from the East' brings fresh snow warnings - BBC News I should flipping hope so. It’s been 14C here today! I was outside in my shirt sleeves at 7pm putting a plastic sheet over the windscreen of my car to make it easier to clear tomorrow. It really doesn’t feel like it will be snowing tomorrow
6Foot2 Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 I should flipping hope so. It’s been 14C here today! I was outside in my shirt sleeves at 7pm putting a plastic sheet over the windscreen of my car to make it easier to clear tomorrow. It really doesn’t feel like it will be snowing tomorrow I have several tasks I perform each Saturday (shopping for dad, paying his bills etc) I am not sure that I will get out of his road if I go down there tomorrow. It is very steep and quite narrow, made all the more difficult by the on-road not-quite double parking the residents like to do. Driving down there is like navigating a chicane. In icy conditions... 1

AJWhite1970 Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 We were outside working until 10pm last night getting 5 horses ready for various events this morning and you could feel the temperature plummet as the night wore on. This morning we got up at 5:30am to discover two events have cancelled overnight and the other is making a decision at 8:30am... Looks like it's going to hit us about 3pm this afternoon with a belt of heavy snow Saturday night....
6Foot2 Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 It's snowing here now. Quite heavy, and earlier than forecast.
AJWhite1970 Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 And the third event has just cancelled as well.... On the plus side, early finish today as wont have to hang round waiting for them all to come back tonight
Andrew_C Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 The odd flake blowing around in Winchester. Still in + temperatures (just).
AJWhite1970 Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 Proper snow here now not that my daughter seems to mind.... 2
witch Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 Been trying to snow here on and off all day. Very cold - lots of wind chill. Took the dog out and the little...angel...saw deer on the golf course and he was off! Cue me having to hang around for 15 mins till he came back. Minus his nice warm sweatshirt (he is half whippet so very thin and gets chilled easily)
6Foot2 Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 ...saw deer on the golf course and he was off!.. Were you able to capture it on video? 1
mikeprice Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 saw a teenage girl standing around on road - probably waiting fro a lift wearing a shortsleeved t-shirt , shorts and trainers she must have been freezing - but was determined not to show it
6Foot2 Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 Snowing quite heavily again and trying to settle. This is from the CCTV at work (a few miles from home)
mikeprice Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 Apparently lots of Widnes Rugby fans are annoyed 'cos they got to Wakefield only form the match to be postponed then cancelled when it was obviously going to get bad before noon ref - taxi driver on way home from pub for OH's birthday
XiJ Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 Been blizzard/sunshine/blizzard/sunshine all day in Sheffield area. Had to push 4 cars up a hill on the way back this evening. Got the bmw home ok though. And a little bit of fun too!
elsiegee40 Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 More here now than last time! Not for us. Standard Kentish snow this time... barely covers the grass. If we hadn’t had 6 inches last time, the local papers would be getting excited, but even they can’t be bothered.
