fiza Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Anyone having issues with getting MyMaths working through Netsweeper? Students can log in to MyMaths but then get blocked when they try to go to a Maths Game or do their homework. Any URLs I should allow?
Nightshade2k Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 It's the logger I don't have access to but I have sent support an email asking for access. Thats a shame i think you should of had it from the off Fiza i thought they had granted that to everyone! word of warning though the logger does not capture everything we have found, weve had to inspect the source code of the websites at times to see which CDN's may be getting blocked for certain sites. Best of luck in getting it sorted! 1
SchoolsBroadband Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Hi @fiza, yes the logger will allow you to see what's going on and block / unblock sites and CDN's when required. Support can give you access to this. Lightspeed and Netsweeper have their own default allowed and blacklisted sites per category and are different so there are some sites which were allowed with Lightspeed but blocked with Netsweeper and vice versa. if you get stuck blocking / unblocking sites then the support team is happy to help as always, alternatively feel free to PM me directly. Thanks Dave 1
tj2419 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Has anyone switched to Netsweeper and has Chromebooks working correctly? We move over in just over 4 weeks and reading this I'm a bit worried about our Chromebooks as we have quite a lot of them. Thanks

The only URL that we've had to add is app.mymaths.co.uk, our problem with My Maths is usually to do with Flash being blocked in Chrome.
PrimaryNetMan Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Question for those who have moved from Lightspeed over to Netsweeper and run Chromebooks. Can Netsweeper authenticate against G Suite for filtering profiles & monitoring logs in the same way Lightspeed does?
SchoolsBroadband Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 not quite yet. We have a work around for this though and have a number of Chromebook schools already using Netsweeper. Full integration with G-Suite is in the development roadmap and is top priority. I don't have a fixed time for it yet but don't expect this to be long from speaking with our product manager. Dave

Can Netsweeper authenticate against G Suite for filtering profiles & monitoring logs in the same way Lightspeed does? Our Chromebooks are finally working but currently they have to log in twice, once as their Google account to log into the Chromebook and then as their network logins to authenticate against the network. Not ideal but at least they're not sat in a trolley gathering dust anymore...

Dave What is the latest schools will be moved away from Lightspeed? G Suite Auth was the key feature of choosing Schools Broadband over other suppliers. What are the options to schools that don't want to use the Netsweeper option?
Primus Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 It's impressive that the new solution from SB to resolve the issues with LightSpeed has all the functionality of LightSpeed... 2

But that's not going to cut it when pupils don't have AD accounts. Not to mention the fact that the service was purchased with G Suite auth support so IMHO any replacement should have the same features. 1
Nightshade2k Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 (edited) Take screenshots of your lightspeed setup you may need them good luck and double check you have access to the loggers with support. on a side note anyone had any issues with netsweeper blocking their rd webfeeds internally>? cant see anything in the logger, got it logged with SB but thought i would ask Edited February 15, 2018 by Nightshade2k

We've specifically asked Netsweeper to develop this for us. It should eventually be in Netsweepers standard build and available for other providers to use as well. Dave
clockend25 Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Over two and a half hours into our '60-90 minute' migration and I'm still waiting for the changes at their end to be completed.
fiza Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Ours didn't take long to do at all but we didn't have Chromebooks. Few teething issues but fixed quickly.
Nightshade2k Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 (edited) Over two and a half hours into our '60-90 minute' migration and I'm still waiting for the changes at their end to be completed. ive created a list of things that we had to sort with SB after our migration, if you have some of these it may be worth checking they are all functioning after you are done. >ParentPay >Cashless Catering (CRB) >4Matrix >Various Sims Syncs (Parents Evening System, Showmyhomework etc.) >Outlook Connections (Believe this is resolved for all schools now) >O365 Connections >Gapp Connections >Lightspeed Next >Various CDN's not detected by the NS logger (Pinterest, Usethekey, PIXL etc.) >Apple MAC Filtering AD/OD Based. >RDWeb Feeds We are currently using Fortigate Filtering for our BYOD setups and bypassed NS completely as NS requires users to make specific changes on certain Android Devices (See the SB proxy cheat sheet) to have seemless filtering and thats a no go for us as our BSF school and its wireless is rented out after hours, during the holidays as conference centre so the techs are not here to configure phones/tablets etc. Also had to create a specific PAC file i linked earlier as well. fiza Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 We had issue with our Pitney Bowes franking machine after the change but it just needed the proxy details input.
Nightshade2k Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Same with our NEOPOST one forgot about that
clockend25 Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 We're over, however users can't authenticate on our BYOD network so that's had to be defaulted to Pupil filtering while the issue is investigated with Netsweeper. 1
clockend25 Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Just logged into Netsweeper for the first time and appear to have almost no access whatsoever. FFS.
clockend25 Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Anyone managed to get a WPAD file working properly with Win 10 clients? It's picked up by Chrome but Edge and IE, via the main proxy setting aren't having it. Absolute nightmare first day thus far.
clockend25 Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Now awaiting a call back from the third time today. Seems once a ticket is assigned to someone no-one else dares touch it!

I’ve heard IE can cache them, try an ie reset?
