Started about 11:44 today, looking at our logs. ParentPay helldesk don't know when it'll be back up.

EE were/are also having problems. We noticed issues sending calls through to EE mobiles/towers from our landlines about midday. We route via Chess.

My son was saying his ParentPay account wouldn't let him have lunch today, but his sisters was fine.

They both go the same school.

In our school ParentPay works offline and syncs at the end of the day. It's down to the discretion of the canteen if they let pupils go into debt if there's not enough credit. Ours will only refuse food in extreme circumstances.

Luckily we don't use ParentPay here but if we did it's the Schools policy not to let a child go hungry so if this happened to us a child would not be turned away from having a meal.

It looks like they've shifted provider - yesterday they were on Six Degrees, this morning they're with Incapsula.

If that's true then they clearly dont value their customers as that should be done out of hours.

Giving them the benefit of the doubt, they were mostly completely down so maybe they switched provider to get up again?

Having said that, yes - I've known them to do maintenance in the working day.

Still upd and down here too, looks like it's been put behind a proxy/CloudFlare style to try to avoid the hosting issues :p

http://www.parentpay.com -

Connection failed

Error code 20

The proxy failed to connect to the web server, due to TCP connection timeout.

I still had the trace route open from last night. At some ppint they changed the IP address their site was resolving to by 1 IP address. Within 30 mins the site was back down again. Today it’s switched to be routed through a ddos protection service.

my money is on a ddos attack, which I assumed from very early on as the site would come online for short periods. A lot of us here have experienced it and sadly I suspect is the doing of one of our very own students.

Our School's canteen system hasn’t synched with ParentPay since last Tuesday 10th. I’ve emailed them and rung them twice now and they’ve said that over 1000 schools are affected and they’re working through them one by one.

I suggested that they put a latest technical news section on the administration part of their website so we all know the current status and they said oh that’s a good idea! They haven’t done this though (of course) so it meant I had to ring again this morning to be told that they are still looking into it. I asked for them to email me the current status so I could pass it on to the Bursar, but they haven’t done this either.

Looks like I may need to try and contact their Chief Executive if we’re not back on soon. Anyone else in the same boat?
