  1. We have in the range of 40-50 Siemens Optipoint 500 phones if anyone has use for them. We are in the FY5 area. Collection only please, or you could arrange your own courier.
  2. Which walkie-talkies did you go for? We've mostly used (the unlicensed) Motorola's, though it's annoying that they regulary change the model and associated chargers.
  3. Hi, Just wondering how you got on with this. We've used unlicensed walkie-talkies in our school for many years now, but I'm looking (again) into migrating to licensed ones. The first time I priced it up we were looking at around £12k to enable all staff to have one, so inevitably, it was turned down. I know it'll be even more expensive now, but as we still have issues with non school staff in the area being on the same channel (we've tried swapping channels) and the general lack of any security with the unlicensed ones, I still want us to look to replace them. For now, I've simply registered an email address with OFCOM.
  4. Obviously, that’s pen drive that I meant to type
  5. A quick test with a USB pend drive shows it as the F7 key that you need to press
  6. Yes, I’d left it 2 days thinking it would discharge the battery, but no, it was still lit up, so seeing as I’ve had a frustrating week at work (as ever), I thought I’d show it’s who’s boss and pull it apart – Basil Faulty style
  7. Follow up - lights are on but there's nobody home - GeoBook 1E We've had a couple of these (DfE provided) devices returned by parents saying they weren't working. The power light was flashing green but no response from the power button whether plugged in or not - stuck in limbo/power save/sleep mode? Had to remove the back cover and disconnect the battery for a few seconds, after which, on plugging in, they work straight away.
  8. Hi, Just wondering if you went down that path? We're a high school and have been using Talaxy since September after previously having used Pars and Insight. There were some initial minor issues, most of which have been fixed now. The support we've had from Tasc had been very good (as it always has been), and that was why I didn't want to move to another company. The reason for we looked to replace the existing platforms was to try and rationalise them into one package. The initial cost is less than Pars and Insight together, though texting costs more. There is also a charge for emails, but it's minimal. We are currently testing the video conferencing module for parents evenings, though our Head seems keen on us purchasing Parent cloud instead, even though it means another cost and yet more administration and configuration from our perspective.
  9. Our School's canteen system hasn’t synched with ParentPay since last Tuesday 10th. I’ve emailed them and rung them twice now and they’ve said that over 1000 schools are affected and they’re working through them one by one. I suggested that they put a latest technical news section on the administration part of their website so we all know the current status and they said oh that’s a good idea! They haven’t done this though (of course) so it meant I had to ring again this morning to be told that they are still looking into it. I asked for them to email me the current status so I could pass it on to the Bursar, but they haven’t done this either. Looks like I may need to try and contact their Chief Executive if we’re not back on soon. Anyone else in the same boat?
