OK I have this working now so that you can PING a piece of hardware with the option toalso check it services (if it a Windows Server).

 

I am currently adding groups so that hardware can be assigned to them i.e.

 

• Windows
  
• *nix
  
• Wireless
  
• Printers
  

 

Then the main staus page will build the display group by group across the page. The layout is the tricky part and I am working on this now so as soon as I have tested this Iwill release another update.

Just gave this a little test, getting an HTTP 500 Internal Server Error when trying to access Admin page. Can see the status page fine.

 

On a Win 2003 SP1.

It is most likely that you need to enable paret paths in IIS, this will show you how:

You need to ensure that the data folder and it's contents have write permissions set for the Intertnet guest account (IUSR_MachineName)

Cool got that working, its just now seeing everything as offline.

Have you downloaded that version form the website v1.2 if so then this is the version that only checks Windows Services.

 

The version that can check non windows servers i.e. wireless, printers etc. will be available tonight.

just added two of our servers, and the status page is seeing them both as offline, including the one that the webpage is hosted on.

is there anything glaringly obvious i may have missed?

 

just seen the bit on the site about 'If a server is added but no services assigned to it the server is shown as offline'

checked and i do have services added to the server, so hopefully i'm not being too stupid here

Hi all,

 

Please wait for the next release tomight as this will work a little differently:

 

The display page will merely "Ping" an item (server, printer, wireless) to see if it is responding then depending on how you have added the item a link will be available to an extended check that will query windows services.

 

Take a look at the screen shot attached.

Yes wack code into file and give it .php extension and yes need web server with php installed on it.

Ive given it a ananomous account that SSPR uses for password changes, which is near to domain admin access. Ive set the directory that the MLSM is in to have that login as full access.

Ive disabled AD auth in IIS and set the 'enable parent paths'.

But the main page for the site just spends ages on 'checking servers'. and the admin page doesnt display at all!?

 

Ideas?

Can i suggest that you hang off until tonight when I release the new version which has a great deal of checking enhancements.

 

Once you have this you should see it alot easier to get up and running.

Booman - google and download "Uniform server"..it's a WAMP package that does PHP out of the box, and is totally portable. I'm running it from my pen drive with the server script (just testing)

Ok here is what we have in this update v1.2:

 

Main Display

• The main display page has been re-worked so that initially a ping is done simply to verify that the checked item responds.
  
• The main display has been broken down into 3 columns for servers, wireless, and printers this can be extended by simply adding more groups
  
• If a checked item is designated as a WMI check i.e. Windows server then the item description is enabled as a link to an extended check for services.
  
• The display page now auto refreshes every 5 mins with a last checked time visible on the page.
  

 

Admin Area

• The admin area has been reworked to make navigation more easier
  
• Groups have been added to allow logical grouping of checked items
  
• A rework of the database to allow for growth and furture upgrades
  

 

PLEASE NOTE: There is no upgrade path to this version due to the re-working that has taken place.

ICTNUT:

 

just installed the new version, still getting the same here.

Server IP is 10.16.48.3 that has IIS installed. I configure the admin area to show that IP as one of the servers, add ALL services to it, yet on the status page it just shows it as DOWN. tried a variety of IPs I know are up, and set them to ping only, and they all show as down.

Not changed any of the files, just copied all files to the wwwroot/mlsm, gave iusr_xxx permissions, and logged in to the /admin/ path. am i doing something wrong?
