We have a mailing list for all customers so someone at your school will be getting this. if you want to be added to the mailing list then just email [email protected] and ask to be added and they'll do it for you.

Cheers

Dave

Reminded me. I'm still struggling trying to get a portal account - asking by email / registering for one hasn't worked? Maybe you can help Dave?

Indeed @Fazza, it just appears that sometimes people want things handing to them on a plate. Most of the time there's an automated message, however if I happen to call before that's put on common sense dictates to me that "You are number 24 in the queue" suggests something is a bit squiffy.

When I used to ring them up I was always number 1 or 2 in the queue so like you say, when you're number 24 in the queue you know somethings up so can just hang up and send a quick email instead!

And again, more Lightspeed issues affecting the majority of my schools :(

We've been told our internet connect is very slow because of other schools doing Windows Updates! So much for a 1:1 contention ratio.

Carole Mawson has told another one of my schools that too. Unacceptable let alone a moot point.

I've had that line from support this morning too.

Think the school is going to seriously look at moving come renewal time.

Filter 9 went down for around 20 minutes.

Just spoken with them as the connection in our Primary went down, the issue is with Filter 10 and filter 9 is a child of it or the other way round!

I am getting fed up with Schools Broadband, we have had so many periods of downtime that the school are probably wondering why I recommended them to go with School Broadband in the first place. In our Secondary where we are with another ISP we have only had 15 minutes of downtime in 5 years.

What?!!!!!!

It's been like this for years! We even doubled our bandwidth in the last year and got consultants in to re-configure our internal network (basically called SB's bluff) to 'resolve' all the reasons they had blamed us for, for having a slow internet speed and not getting what we paid for and we're still in the same boat. We might have a 1:1 contention ratio but it's not to the internet, its just to their data center where they then have multiple internet connections that get shared with all their customers and if too many schools happen to be heavily using the internet (they always blame Windows Updates) then there is not enough bandwidth to go around so our internet frequently drops to single figures (at the moment we have 1.38Mbps available to use).

I would hope you are looking for alternative providers if that is the case.

Even without prompting none of my schools have any intention of staying with them. Lots of benefit of the doubt, lots of patience and a good rapport with the guys there who often are tearing their hair out as much as we are, but have to look after the interests of the schools.

And because it's under an hour there's no service credit for the schools. It's not difficult to see why they've fallen out of favour with them. Yes they're a business but compared to *anyone* else on here, has there ever been as much bad press? I remember all hell breaking loose when LA's used to have issue like EMBC, SWGfL etc but they were never this bad for reliability at least.

@Fazza you mean one of the reasons that people used to gripe about LAs and RBCs? The fact that the WAN might be fantastic but the lines out where naff?

Before my time I'm afraid! I join where I am just as they were moving away and for the 2 months we were still with the LA the internet was crashing once a day and was causing mayhem!

You get what you pay for, simple as that.

Not sure if it was a coincidence but we had issues on an RM connection at the same time as having SB issues in 3 of our schools.

I have enough to do let alone having heads/teachers/ceo's etc moaning at me because the internet is down once again.

I'm beginning to wonder if we can use just the line and get our own filtering as it always seems to be a lightspeed issue.
