Hi Guys,

Any ideas why Classflow Desktop 3.0.16-1 wont open on windows 10? I just get the purple classflow screen with a spinning circle?

Thanks

Hi Simon,

There is a new version of the software on classflow.com 3.0.20-3, download that and install. I have that running on my windows 10 computer with no issues.

Hope this helps.

That doesn't seem to be available to download, ClassFlowDesktop-Win64-3.0.16.msi is the latest I have available.

Hi Simon,

We found if you put a space or special characters in your username you will have an issue with loading ClassFlow desktop. If you did create your username with a space or special character you will need to create a new user. Once you are able to open up ClassFlow desktop, you will be prompted to install the latest update, UK is 3.0.19-1. The update for the UK should be next week.

Best regards,

Pam

Hmmm, just installed this software for a teacher to test but it seems it doesn't want to load correctly unless the user has admin rights. Not impressed.

Hi Simon,

The ClassFlow desktop needs to be installed in a users file "appdata" which will give it the rights it needs to operate. Are you installing this is a different directory?

Hi All.

Has anyone been able to get this working? Installing via MSI from Centrastage, will work as it should under an admin account, but fails under a normal staff account due to write permissions to the user "Appdata" folder. Any pointers would be appreciated. Is there a script or GPO edit that could be used?

Thanks,

Hi all

Just for info - ClassFlow Desktop installs into the users/app data folder. It also installs a registry key that checks whenever a user logs in that ClassFLow Desktop is installed. If it is not then it will try to install it. This requires users to have suitable permissions to the user/app data folder. The installer can be found in C:/Program files

In a nutshell users will need suitable permissions for the user/app data folder for this to work correctly.

Hi Markiof.

Thanks for the reply and info :) . Can write to appdata now.

Do you happen to know what key it writes to the registry? Had a look and unless I'm being stupid (actually, quite possible) I cant locate it.

Thanks,

Hi gmj,

The "check" that happens on each user logon is written here:

64bit:

HKLM>SOFTWARE>WOW6432Node>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Run

32bit:

HKLM>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Run

It writes the "classflowdesktopMachineInstaller" key. You will see that the path that checks for the install is located in the C:\Program Files folder as Markiof states.

Thanks

Classflow Desktop won't open .flp or .flipchart files natively but does contain a converter for these files. There is also a mass converter offer from Promethean, you can find more details in the Promethean Support Article 1616

https://support.prometheanworld.com/article/?kb=1616

Thanks for your help.

When you say 'does contain a converter', is it a separate application? Can I drag and drop multiple files into there?

I saw the mass converter service from Promethean, but that's a bit shabby - they want you to send a Google Drive link with public and editable access. Would have been better if they had designated email addresses to give permission to.

Hi,

Right now you can only convert 1 file at a time within ClassFlow Desktop. When you are on the conversion site to upload your file go to the bottom of the page and you will see for additional questions or assistance, please visit our HELP article or contact the conversion team via email at [email protected].

Thank you
