  1. Hi, I've since left the school and I believe my colleague was in talks with Sahara/CleverTouch at the time...but don't know what's happened. I'll try find out and let you know. Jon
  2. Some kind of wake-on-lan going on there...
  3. But I'm not sure if that includes reboots whilst a user is logged on.
  4. Thanks for the replies and I agree with you all - SSDs/electricity. Hibernate is an idea but that doesn't install updates which Windows is waiting on a restart/shutdown for.
  5. Does anyone have users moan about shutting down at night? As they're used to just "locking the PC with 20 documents open and coming back next day to refer to quickly"...?
  6. Had this come through: Dear J, Following feedback regarding the importance of Promethean’s ActivInspire Software in your classrooms, we are pleased to inform you that we have decided to continue to maintain and support our popular ActivInspire Software. With the decision to continue to maintain and support the ActivInspire software, you can now continue to use your Flipcharts within ActivInspire and manage the transition to ClassFlow at your own pace. If you wish to convert your Flipcharts into the ClassFlow format, you can use the auto converter that exists in ClassFlow. For those teachers who have successfully migrated to the ClassFlow suite of products and converted your ActivInspire content to the ClassFlow format, we are excited for you to be able to engage your students with a truly immersive learning environment. Promethean continues to be dedicated to developing ClassFlow as our next-generation platform for lesson delivery. Cloud-based solutions, such as ClassFlow, represent the future of education technology and provide additional opportunities for student engagement in the classroom. Thank you for your many years of loyal support of ActivInspire, and Promethean looks forward to continuing to serve you with software solutions that engage and motivate students to learn. Thanks, Promethean EMEA Marketing Team
  7. Hi, Thanks for your previous replies. Why is there nothing on the horizon to enable ClassFlow to natively open ActivInspire files? This would save a lot of time and effort compared to providing converting services...imagine if Microsoft said you can't open DOC files in Office 2007 and only DOCX files... Cheers, Jon
  8. Thanks for your help. When you say 'does contain a converter', is it a separate application? Can I drag and drop multiple files into there? I saw the mass converter service from Promethean, but that's a bit shabby - they want you to send a Google Drive link with public and editable access. Would have been better if they had designated email addresses to give permission to.
  9. Does anyone know what date Progresso will increment the year groups? And mark them as Active? Been on hold for ages!
  10. Does this open .flp and .flipchart files natively or do you need to convert? And does converting preserve everything? Thanks, Jon
  11. Haha snap...saving into temp folder...
  12. APPDATA has loads of temp files...eg Powerpoints.
  13. I want the N64 version to come out...Mario Kart 64, GoldenEye, Snowboard Kids...all good 4-player fun...which is rare these days...with everyone gaming online...which isn't the same.
  14. Not again... http://www.edugeek.net/forums/news/185854-many-firms-hit-global-cyber-attacks-bbc-news.html
  15. In answer to original question, we have the same issue, but we've set it to download to a folder 'Chrome Downloads' instead of directly onto their drive, and advised people to clean up/delete now and then.
  16. LanSchool gets my vote.
  17. Can I suggest Panasonic screens for reliability (not the cheap low end rebadged ones). We've got one hooked up to a PC. The teacher just created a website with twitter feeds and stuff, and full screened it.
  18. Have you all mounted the screens at a: 1. Fixed height 2. Balance box 3. Motorised stand I'm curious to which you've got and any feedback. We're looking at balance boxes for ActivPanels...but are they crap like the ones that came with the Sanyo/Orange all-in one IWB?
  19. What would be cool, is if you could seamlessly work with the browser too - open attachments / drive from the browser directly into MS Word, and save back directly to drive.
  20. Nevermind, figured it out. We've got all allowed except Exchange (as we've had got Google Apps set up way before Office365 took off). Just thinking about the 'Video' app. By default, anyone can create and upload videos. On one hand, this is handy for students to show off their media work. But on the other hand, it could be easily abused by students, uploading all sorts of junk, which might be a nightmare to manage. I'm curious to how have you all set your 'Video' app permissions? What do you do?
  21. I'm new to this...for 'Video', it seems anyone can change titles/captions...can you set permissions that stops this?
  22. We're on normal Eclipse (hosted on site). Looked at Eclipse Hosted off-site/cloud, but looking from the management console, it showed there wasn't much use of the library system anyway, so we couldn't justify the costs of going hosted.
  23. Just recently got a problem with a CleverTouch 65 inch. The screen automatically keeps 'clicking' in the bottom corner. I think they're called phantom touches. We thought it was a 5 year warranty...but no, Sahara said 3 years...and it's happened just outside of that. They gave some tips but if it doesn't work then we won't be buying CleverTouch again.
  24. Hi, Sorry I'm a bit confused or being a bit slow - are you saying that staff who download ClassFlow Desktop (for home PCs) don't need to connect to an Activ device every 90 days? Thanks, Jon
  25. Thanks for the info. 1. How would staff use ClassFlow Desktop on their home PC? 2. Also, I assume all staff would each need a new ClassFlow account - can that be signed in with an Office365/Google Apps account?
