64bit vs 32bit office

Does anybody use office x64 instead of x86?

 

We're still using a 32bit build here (2013) and was thinking of making the jump to 64bit (when we go win10).

 

We use SIMs as our MIS. Should i stay with 32bit?

 

Any feedback will be appreciated.

I believe MS recommend staying with 32bit. Also i think Sims is only supported with 32bit.

 

64bit is not essential in my opinion.

32bit is still the recommended option unless you have people who have multi-GB excel spreadsheets.

Never have installed 64bit office because of Plug-in incompatibilities. Build 64bit Windows OS and install 32bit office. Also factor in any software such as SIMS or other MIS system that may have a problem with 64bit office as @ultima170387 points out.

Same as what everyone else is saying. We only use the 32 bit version.

I had an installer that was x64 and used that on our image (accidentally) quite some time ago, since office 2013 and never had any problems and have since just continued to use x64.

 

All of our machines now have 64 bit office and work fine, never had any issues with SIMS or anything like that, we don't however use any sort of plug-ins for office.

I've been running 64bit Office on my office PC for a few years now - I saw that MS only advise using it if you've got monstrous spreadsheets, and as mine was using 14GB RAM and taking 10 mins to update, I thought it'd be worth a try - it didn't make any difference.

 

I've not noticed any disadvantages to it, but certainly no advantages either... so I'll be going back to 32bit next time I refresh my PC...

Only disadvantage for us is that our staff still use them BoardWorks fancy enabled powerpoints. Doesnt work on 64bit whatsoever.

Been using 64bit office 13/16 for years. On all admin and classroom machines- never had an issues with sims ect

I've seen it documented in many places that 32bit is the recommended path. 64bit is rarely advised.

 

We've stuck with 32bit.

We switched to 64 bit as we went to W10 last summer. Not identified any problems specific to that with SIMS. But we had to go back to 32 bit for finance staff as Sage 200 2016 did NOT work with 64 bit.

We have been using 64bit since last summer with no issues. We use SIMS profiles and reporting extensively and have had no problems with it.
