localzuk Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 I liked the Rosa Parks thing and yes, it was uncomfortable - I just felt that the "making sure history stays the same" bit has been done many times in other shows There's always going to be some "The Simpsons Did It" syndrome in shows - some ideas work well as the basis for a story - especially for an episode put out in Black History Month with a very clear purpose to educate people about racism.

LeMarchand Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 I like the odd "historical" episode; the "T" from "TARDIS" seems to be used only to travel to the future too often. I did feel that the "solution" was a bit passive, especially after the Doctor "giving up" last week. Bradley Walsh's acting was surprisingly good in the scene, though. I wish the same could be said for Josh Bowman's performance - he wasn't great playing Jack the Ripper in the TV version of "Time After Time", but he wasn't as bad as he was here. At least he kept his shirt on. The Tardis still hasn't grown on me, but otherwise the production looked great; in fact the whole season so far has looked gorgeous.

In my house, my 16yo daughter and I are avid watchers but I've kinda felt I'm watching this series because I always watch rather than waiting for the next episode. Maybe it's because each episode is meant to be standalone (although I (as can half the Who world) can already see a couple of arcs coming back later) it's just a bit Doctor Who by numbers at the moment. Saw the trailer for the spiders and just thought meh. Might change as we go along but at the moment I'm a maybe 1
Spookyville Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 I have actually forgot it was on the last two weeks at that time on a Sunday (luckily Sky+ saved the day). I don't know - maybe its gone too much the other way with Chibnall wanting a full reset and no "older" monsters back for this series. Or maybe it's me just wishing for them back, lol. Always nice when a new doctor comes up against the Daleks or Cybermen for the first time

Not sure if that's Chibnall not being very good at dialogue or if it's just new season jitters. Time will tell, I guess.

He was sent so far back by Ryan with Krasko's 'borrowed' device perhaps he can jump through an old anomaly left over from Professor Cutter's Primeval days? I do think that he will make a reappearance, he was in it so briefly and he and the Doctor seemed to develop 'beef' very quickly.
