sims How to Prevent SIMS Next Gen Default Timetables
Spookyville replied to EFIRMIN's topic in MIS Systems
Ours redirected last week, caused chaos. We set it back but the status is still sat on "Reversing". Anyone know how long this takes? Common sense would dictate the next working day but than again it is ESS/PPG -
Me too please, thank you.

A NotebookLM related question. We have google workspace for education fundamentals and in admin portal LM is allowed for everyone. However when logged into school account a staff member cannot see the slide deck and infographics options in the studio panel. However if they log into their own personal google account (just a standard free one not pro) these options appear. Any ideas?

Android tablets - managing and MDM
Spookyville replied to leegcvcc's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
In light of the mobile phone ban we are introducing for students after Easter I will shortly be asked to provide two class sets of devices as cheap as possible. We already have iPads for some SEN kids managed through Mosyle. We have a set of old chrome tablets that we use in kiosk mode for reading plus purposes in the library. We will be implementing Intune this year so android tablets are an option at some point. Thinking about CE I don't envy having el cheapo android tablets to manage but cost is the driving factor here. Anybody been in the same predicament? -
Google Endpoint Education Upgrade
Spookyville replied to ThatBoringBloke's topic in Licensing Questions
We only need the fundamental level as we are a primarily MS environment. The fact that Google insist on having to upgrade the whole cohort to the standard licence instead of a few makes it financially nonviable. I do have a few tablets and some android phones I want to lock down via google at a device level as opposed to user level though. They are shared and only a few select people have google accounts set up. Hence the hope with the device endpoint education upgrade path... -
Google Endpoint Education Upgrade
Spookyville replied to ThatBoringBloke's topic in Licensing Questions
Yes you can purchase the user based endpoint upgrade but my reseller is having difficulty sourcing the device based variant. Every reference to it on google still states coming soon all the way back to Feb 2024... -
Google Endpoint Education Upgrade
Spookyville replied to ThatBoringBloke's topic in Licensing Questions
Anyone know if Google ever released the device based licence for education endpoint? Everywhere since 2024 seems to say coming soon........ -
This is on the horizon for us now, interested to hear how you all got on and any bumps in the road? Any info/resources or tips appreciated

Digital Signage software, what do you use?
Spookyville replied to Mixed's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Old thread bump. We are currently have 3 screens which run on old Sedao media players and attached to the Cleverlive Cloud. Finding them very limiting and the one night of the year we really need it to work was open evening when different content is required to be presented at certain times and they had an issue at their end on that day/evening and the support response wasn't great. Wanting to ultimately pass it over to non technical staff which rules Xibo out. Looking for the normal usual functionality but also the ability to handle native power point slides. Any suggestions would be appreciated. -
SAR - .pst to .PDF Conversion
Spookyville replied to wellscs's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
Do you know if there is a limit on the size of files? The trial states 2 documents allowed int he trial, but doesn't specify and size or page limit. Thanks. -

Silly question and suspect not required but is parental consent required for this endeavor? -

FMS migration - access to data beyond migration
Spookyville replied to jtcoops's topic in MIS Systems
Thanks for the replies so far. The contract termination is for FMS only, looks like for our sins we are staying on SIMS (I know...) It was a query from the FD initially. -
FMS migration - access to data beyond migration
Spookyville replied to jtcoops's topic in MIS Systems
We have given notice and our FMS contract finishes on 31/03/26. Already up and running with Access but have the same query around the previous 6 years of data. -
so.. windows 10 support ... education extended for free
Spookyville replied to 5nowman's topic in Licensing Questions
Luckily I acquired ours last week when still £0 for year 1. Will only need a year so no issues. -
Are there any comparisons between SIMS NextGen, Arbor and Bromcom? Features, Pros and cons etc. Current SIMS secondary school, current 3 year deal ends next spring. Looking at options...

Visitor/Student/Staff sign in systems - Inventry or SignIn or EntrySign?
Spookyville replied to MSGT's topic in General Chat
We use InVentry at the moment, but the new Principle wants to gather feedback from visitors for KPI purposes. The feedback facility in InVentry is email based which is not ideal and looking for something that is presented on the touchscreen as they leave before they sign out. We do also use the Paxton Integration so that facility is essential on any possible alternate suggestions. TIA- 31 replies

So the consensus is Gemini? We are a 365/Teams environment so guessing whatever links to MS and offers the functionality of Alexa..

Opening Pandora's box here but here goes! Anyone out there using Alexa in their school on the admin side? Had an inquiry from the SLT to investigate using it for adding things to other SLT members list etc.. I should qualify that I use Alexa extensively at home, and it can be quite useful but it often takes 2 or 3 attempts when asking her to turn a light on. So I know the drawbacks in reality (and the frustrations!) Personally I am skeptical of it in a work environment but interested if anyone out there already took the plunge and either regretted it or not

Finance Systems - Access - signing off electronic invoices
Spookyville posted a topic in MIS Systems
We have just moved to Access from FMS and need to look into integrating an automatic esignature system for invoices where they would be sent to the budget holder electronically who would sign and then sent back to finance automatically. Anyone implemented this already or looking into it? Something like Acrobat Sign or any other off the shelf solutions recommended? TIA -
Support is shocking now. Are there any alternatives that can integrate to paxton net2? Contract is up for renewal next September and would like options going into that!

Computer suite management
Spookyville replied to bewlay51's topic in Network and Classroom Management
We have been using the NetSupport products for a couple of years. DNA and Notify (bar the issues it has with 1 week holidays on a 2 week timetable) are fine but School is a total nightmare. Always crashes and really slow. The latest update has made it totally unusable. Getting to the point where we will have to look to get rid and find an alternative product. -
SEN 'Read aloud' solution for Exams Papers
Spookyville replied to petben's topic in How do you do....it?
How did you get around the fact that (in our case anyway) the exam accounts used don't have internet access? It's supposed to have an offline "mode" but seems to ping back to speech server anyway which with no internet access is blocked. Any advice? -
