Coffee Machines

I've got a Tassimo machine and when I first got it, they did these creme brulee and tiramasu flavoured coffees and they were THE BEST! They've stopped selling them now though... it makes me sad.

 

Just on with my morning coffee t-discs at the moment.

 

Anyone else have a fancy coffee machine? What drinks do you make from it?

My parents have two Tassimo machines, mostly making Costa or Kenco coffees. Although this time of year, personally I think it should make Cadbury Hot Chocolates.

I have a Tassimo primarily for chucking a Costa Americano and milk pod together.

If there is a deal going on, I also pick up some Jacobs Café Au Lait.

Yeah I quite like the costa ones too.

 

I guess my next favourites which actually sell are the caramel latte machiato ones.

 

Don't think I've tried the Jacobs ones... might have to do an online order

The environmental impact of those coffee capsules is not good. Much better to use an aeropress, filter or cafetiere where everything used is biodegradable.

I do enough other green things to balance out the impact

 

I use a cafetiere too... ALL DA COFFEE!

Agreed, a kettle and a cafetière is all you need for good office coffee. If you have a science block, get yourself a macchinetta and pop it on a Bunsen burner.

I have a plastic thing that you pop a filter into and sit on top of your cup. Quite good. When staff have seen me make a coffee they have always been jelly. Might buy a personal cafetiere for work... I can only drink the black coffee t-discs anyways... stupid body, stupid lactose.

Aeropress here with one of those add-in metal filters.

 

Oh, and a fancy espresso machine that rarely gets used since getting the aeropress unless it's a Sunday and I want a lazy prolonged breakfast.

Have a tasimo at home as I got it on special offer and enough capsules to last me a lifteime but find that it only makes small drinks. Have a french press at work and prefer that as it's easier to use if you're making 3 or 4 cups at once.

Tassimo here. Love the cadbury's hot chocolate but a pain you have to use 2 of them to get a reasonable sized cup. The Carte Doir coffees are nice too.

I have a Nespresso machine at home with a companion milk frother. I mainly enjoy Expresso and the occasional latte on a weekend.

 

I opted for a Nespresso mainly because I prefer the richer and more varied selection of coffees that are available through them and they appear to be slightly more 'artisan', where as the Tassimo range seem to be more about getting the 'big brand' coffee and drinking chocolates suppliers (Costa, Starbucks, Nascaffe, Cadburys etc) which I'm not a big fan of.

But I can't have caffeine at the moment so I'm VERY restricted on what t-discs I can use. Tesco seem to be the only supermarket near me that have a decaf option.

I have a Nescafe Dolce Gusto and its great I have the full range of pods from Amazon get them in a big bag and its assorted so had some of the US ones as well as UK ones like Nesquick and peach tea

Dolce Gusto Machine at home, nothing fancy at work.

 

Haven't used it much lately, though having some hot chocolates in the winter will be nice, especially if i get my hands on the caramel Choccocino pods.

Another fan of Aeropress here.

Very simple, easy to clean and great coffee. Only slight drawback is the lack of crema (which doesn't survive through the filter), but other than that, a great gadget.

 

As for the environment, every time you use an Aeropress a kitten is saved. This has been proven in many studies.

Oh i almost forgot, the therapy Team have have a Nespresso machine, if ever i do them a favour i tend to get a strong coffee from them.
