Laptop screen, student damaged or graphical defect??

So had these 3 similar problem laptops handed to me which are still under warranty. I know what a classic broken screen looks like, but I'm not sure about these. Are they some sort of pressure defect or has the screen malfunctioned?

That's interesting as we have just replaced a Toshiba screen with a very similar issue, intact almost identical. Toshiba told us it was physical damage when we sent them photos so I just took the hit and got a replacement screen of eBay for £35; took 15 minutes to fit.

yes - if you look at where a pen would sit on the top row of the keyboard that is about where the screen would close

Thanks, I think that pretty much confirms it. I don't want to send it off if Toshiba then fix the screens and push the cost back to us due to user damage.

First picture looks like the laptop may have been closed when one of those missing keys was loose on top of the others.

Funny, i have just been given a toshiba laptop (probably the same model) with the same issue. No one said it had a been dropped/damaged and the last time they dropped one they just admitted it out right.

I've had a couple of Toshiba laptops with very similar issues. I tend to change the screen myself with the older, spare laptops I have lying around.

 

Seems strange that all the similar issues are with Toshibas though!

I have had this problem with laptop screen and the 'owner' has been totally unaware that they was ever anything on the keyboard - but when opened and the problem dispayed the pen was still there!

 

it can be easily done by people being stressed and in a rush - finish in one room close laptop and go to next room - pen left on keyboard - goodbye screen!

Well one of mine came out of the box like that. It started as a few dead pixels and slowly got worse and worse.

Wonder if there is a known fault with Toshiba screens. Doubt they will admit to it though.

I had a fault with hinges on a load of them. The first one took some arguing with them, but eventually I got them all repaired under warranty. Screens are another animal because they are so easily damaged. I think if you were to put all this evidence forward then they might repair them under warranty.

We've had loads of these at our partner school and they've all been either closed with something inside them or they've been pressed from above, say, by being at the bottom of a teachers bag with 50 books on top it.
