I'm weirdly working in a place that has no issues with Flash as nothing we use relies on that horror here which is good.

 

Saying that -

 

Java - Still hating this junk so many years on and the problems it causes, every update cycle triggers many issues with specialised software for us.

 

Bad Software - the horrific product that someone ran with that becomes integral to a business function - there are lots of different programs in my time that I have dealt with and supported that cause no end of trouble just by being poorly written or written in a way that targets the end user and not the people supporting it - Sibelius and Adobe in education would be of them for sure, as would Citrix Xenserver, seen some majorly painful things happen because of them.

 

Third its a tossup between Windows updates(the lack of Service Packs especially are a major PITA for all of us in rebuilding) and the wonder of financial packages - I had a recent headache for a day or so as a planned domain join and name change seemingly broke a product, but it did as this horror was coded to use a full UNC it seemed and shares out of a public user directory on the server.

iPads (managing and updates, kids messing with them)

Windows Updates (so many, so frequent, laptops being turned off halfway through installs)

Things not being put on the helpdesk (self explanatory - recently this has come to a head as we've had bookings for assemblies not put on - thus we didn't turn up to set up)

 

All three exacerbated by (some) users! No Java on site, Flash updates managed by GPO scripts, licensing pretty sound, printers have been okay. I count myself very lucky here.

In all honesty 99% I have zero issues with supporting what we get paid to do, it's out job after all. The only frustrations is where some one has purchased a piece of kit without even talking to us or those who want to spend 3x the amount of money to do something that costs a lot less.....
