Maxell Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Hello, I need to source 10 iPads for our school. This sounds easy enough, but I was wondering if anyone knew of the best place to buy from? Are there special education discounts anywhere that people know about? Buying direct from Apple using a purchase order wasn't easy in the past, so I think that would be best avoided... TIA, Mark.
IWDave Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 (edited) We farm out quotes out to suppliers, BT Business, NS Optimum, MISCO, Softcat, VeryPC etc. and see who comes back with the best pricing. They can normally apply education discounts on all products. We've had great pricing through BT Business recently. Edited October 12, 2016 by IWDave
sparkeh Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I use @VeryPC who have always been awesome. 3
ICTDirect_Dave Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 You can give me a try We can get pretty good education pricing on new Apple kit!
JordanT91 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I purchased some from Jigsaw24 last week. I'd never used them before but because my account manager at Stormfront appeared to have left and they didn't answer the phone when I rang or reply to my email in a timely manner, I decided to give them a try. I had a quote, account set up and order gone through within an afternoon and the iPads came the next day.
HBPS Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I only use BT my account manager is ace We farm out quotes out to suppliers, BT Business, NS Optimum, MISCO, Softcat etc. and see who comes back with the best pricing. Have been in talks with these guys and they are on the money..we are purchasing iPads from them soon..
GrumbleDook Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 If buying iPads, try to remember to get them onto your DEP so that they can be managed better. 1
RLR Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 We usually go out to multiple company's for quotes. We find Jigsaw24 to always be the cheapest. Other companies we have bought from are AMC computer supplies. You want to make sure which ever company you use that they are familiar with DEP.
Maxell Posted October 12, 2016 Author Posted October 12, 2016 Thanks for all the advice everyone. I will make a few calls. Mark.
john Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Jigsaw 24 for sure they are great folk I got quite a lot of media kit from them and some apply bits
Stevecee Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Hi I would look to using an Apple Education reseller, GBM Digital are who we use but Academia and KRCS both are good, they can help and will be able to add these to your DEP (if you have one?) It must be noted however that their hands are pretty tied regarding prices from apple (everyones are!). You should get a good deal and they should also offer good support - pretty useful if you are doing this for the first time Hah Steve
paulellam Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 We use XMA, been great for years, DEP sorted straight away and have knowlegable education people.
Willott Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Interestingly no one has mentioned Insight,I've not got a cheaper iPad quote for several years
DJ-1701 Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 In the past we have used Toucan Computing. They seem to have good deals when comparing. I'll have to make sure I contact @ICTDirect_Dave next time we need any quotes. 1
DavR Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 +1 for Toucan, they've been great for me and given me so much support for deployment etc. They know their stuff. Interestingly, last time I went out to get quotes on iPads, all three suppliers came back within about a fiver of each other, it was the additional items like cases and leads that made the difference. Unless you find someone running a loss leader, I think they're pretty tied with pricing for the actual devices.
