[sims] SIMS Learning Gateway alternative

Hi all,

 

I have been tasked with the job of seeing if there is a decent alternative to SIMS Learning Gateway? Basically we want staff to be able to access Marksheets, student data etc. Also we want parents to be able to see their childs attendance, behavior information.

 

We have just reached the end of our 3 year contract with SIMS and I am not a fan so would prefer not to sign up for another 3 years.

 

Any opinions would be appreciated.

We have just started using insight TASC Software | INSIGHT

 

Very good and know a lot of other users here use it.

This is my own opinion, but is shared by many members of staff at my school, but I find it not very user friendly, clunky and a bit unreliable, we have been using it since 2010 and due to the issues, staff and parents have been using it less and less.

I'd have a look at Bromcom - I've been playing with an online demo and due to go to a presentation next week.

Had TASC Insight and PARS for years, we had SIMS Learning Gateway first, and you know the saying ' If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all' .

 

Much MUCH prefer Insight and PARS.

We have Pars and Insight, both work great and the support team are very flexible with any improvements required, new version of Insight coming soon that gives it a modern visual upgrade

We use Bromcom Webfolder SD for staff access to SIMS through a browser. Gives them access to marksheets and some student data, but doesn't replace the full fat SIMS client.

 

We use Insight as well for our Parent Portal. We publish our reports to it through linked documents in SIMS and the PDF upload tool. We also use it for parents evening bookings.

Another PAR's and Insight user, PAR's sort of replaces Lesson Monitor and Insight the SLG to extent Parent Portal we use remote access so staff can do Reports and access SIM's etc.

 

Been using both of these for a few years have been very good, good support also nice looking front end for users which someone has mentioned is also being updated Students and Parents tend to use Insight extensively and really like this as is user friendly and easy to use.

 

Insight displays Attendance, Behavior, Time Table, Reports, etc Extra modules but very reasonably priced for Options into SIM's, Parent Evening Bookings. You can also do Homework's on PAR's or Insight which display on Insight so parents can check what Homework's are set completed etc.
