Tucasi School Cash Office - Silent Install Switch?
Theldron replied to LeMarchand's topic in Educational Software
Hi @DaveR, hope you are well. I'm Theldron2.0 from the other post (found the login for my old account) I am still waiting on Tucasi to come back to me re the MSI. Do you remember what things you had to register in C:\Windows please? Also I have copied the C:\SCO directory to another computer, but the username field is just greyed out and can't be touched, any ideas please? I am sure I have missed something or not copied something. I have copied it into Program Files\Sco as I don't like things on the root of C. Not sure if that is the reason. Thanks- 12 replies

Hi all, Hope you are well. Weird one has just reared its head. Over half-term I replaced the 2016 DCs with 2022 DCs, all went ok, except for a STAS issue, but that got sorted. Anyway now when I try to image a desktop when the image is nearly finished I get the OOBE of "Checking the connection to Microsoft" and it just stays on there. I left it all weekend and it was still on it on Monday morning. I can bypass with ctrl-shift-f3, but that's just a workaround. I have setup the devices as hybrid at the school to use WufB for the updates, but it was working fine before half-term. Not sure if DC update related or just being a pain. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Looks like there is a way to link M365 and Google Classroom, without needing to use Gmail or new logins. Just need 5 mins to set it all up.

Hi all, Hope you are well. One of my schools is working with RISE (Regional Improvement for Standards and Excellence) through the DFE. I have been told by the Head that this is all done through Google Classroom, but we are a M365 school. Is this correct if anyone else is dealing with RISE? As I really do not want to have to maintain a second system and give staff separate google emails unless I really have to? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi all, Hope you are well. Strange one, in one of my schools they have lost spell check in their M365 emails in Edge. It was working fine on Windows 10, but not in Windows 11, and I have not changed much if anything. Any ideas? Thanks

Thanks for the replies both. I have found the issue. The MDM authority wasn't set to intune. As soon as I clicked and saved that, and sync and restarted a machine it downloaded the policies.
-
If I go to device configuration in intune should the upgrade ring policy show up in there, as I only have default admx policies?
-
I have looked I cannot see any other policies, I have removed all WSUS ones. We are using A3 licenses.
-
Hi all, Hope you are well. Trying to setup WufB on Hybrid joined devices. I can see the devices in intune and have created Upgrade rings and added the test device groups into assignment. But the policies are not being downloaded to the devices. All I see in Windows Update -> Advanced -> Configured Policies is I have setup MDM in GPO. I have also checked our Sophos XGS is not getting in the way. Any ideas? Thanks

Ignore realised you need user auth for Hybrid join and my admin server account won't be sync'd with Azure AD Connect. I have read about Azure Update Manager using Azure Arc, has anyone used this, or what are you using for Server updates?
-
Hi all, Hope you are well. Our WSUS server has finally given up and I cannot be bothered to mess with it any more, as it's been nothing but trouble since the off. I am looking at setting up our devices as Hybrid and using WufB, but we have a Sophos XGS, which uses STAS and only allows internet access through user authentication. I am sure I can find some URLs to add as exceptions but wanted to reach our and check if somebody else has been in the same situation as me and how you managed to get around it? Thanks. Also I was told WufB doesn't do server updates, is this right? Doesn't seem right to me. Thanks again

Windows Server 2022 not download WSUS updates
Theldron replied to Theldron's topic in Windows Server 2022
Hi thanks for that. I have looked at the link you put in but I already have a .esd in place. Do I get rid of this? No I don't have anything in place for WufB yet. I use Server 2016/2019 and they download updates fine, it just seems to be 2022. -
Windows Server 2022 not download WSUS updates
Theldron replied to Theldron's topic in Windows Server 2022
Thanks but would prefer to stick with Microsoft WSUS or is WUFB ok? -
Hi all, Hope you are well. I am setting up 2 new DCs on Server 2022 as our current ones are on Server 2016 and LAPS doesn't work with Win 11 24H2 you need to use Server 2019 or above.... but that's another story. I have server 2022 installed and on the domain but when I try to get it to download updates, it is either stuck on 0% or 10%. I have ensure that WSUS has the correct server updates - 21H2 I believe for 2022. But it is just stuck. On 2019, I had to change the download mode for Delivery optimisation to bypass for that to work with WSUS. But that setting has been depreciated. Any other ideas?

With regards to this, it now seems to be behaving itself, but we can't edit the categories for events. The new categories option is greyed out, we tried within the outlook client, but it doesn't sync across. Any ideas?

How do you get rid of QuickAssist with this? I have tried Get-AppXPackage *QuickAssist* | Remove-AppXPackage -AllUsers but it doesn't work. I just know that students will mess with this.

Hi all, I understand that Teams calendars are hidden by default, is there a way to unhide them? We have a Governor team and they want to use the calendar. I have found a work around going through groups etc. Also we are having some weird issues, for instance the edit button on an event disappearing and having to refresh to get it back. Events disappearing for the organiser and again having to refresh to get them back. It's happened to me and the another person on different laptops and browsers. Anyone else had this?

Hi all, thanks. I used Copilot and it was a setting in the Windows 11 24H2 baseline, to block behaviour of the elevation prompt. Edited that and it's fine. Yeah I heard you needed separate then I was told, you are fine using the same. The only thing I did was use the baseline.

Hi all, Hope you are well. Weird one. In Windows 10, when I right click Powershell run as administrator I get the login box to sign in with my admin credentials. In Windows 11, when I click Terminal (Admin) or right click Powershell run as administrator I get "this app has been blocked by your system administrator". At the moment, my test Windows 11 PC is in my standard with the Windows 10 machines. Any ideas? Thanks

Windows 11 School Devices Wifi - Unable to Connect to this network
Theldron replied to Theldron's topic in Windows 11
Hi thanks for the help with this didn't realise Credential Guard was enabled by default now. Have had to disable it for now via GPO. Yeah we use NPS and a CA, so will look at how to sort the config for that. Thanks again all. -

I am wondering if its a certificate issue. I assume a certificate is assigned to a device to allow connection? -

Hiya, I haven't enabled that policy yet, as I know it can cause issues. -

Hi, yeah I have checked they are part of the same security group. The Windows 10 laptops are fine, but the Windows 11 machines in the same OUs are playing up. This is happening to Dell and Fujitsu laptops.
