Jawloms Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Anyone ever get any silly questions back from an obvious email you send out? Me; Hi , I’m after an iPad 4 case with a built in keyboard. Doesn’t need to be super strong or anything as it’s for the head teacher. What sensible offerings do you have please? Thank you Stuart
Reply I got; Hi Stuart, Thanks for your enquiry. Can you please just confirm that this device is the iPad Air?. Want to be sure I do not quote for the wrong case. Regards,
There must be some good ones out there? It's so hard not to be brutally sarcastic at times..... 1
Oaktech Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 No I get obscure replies. Me: "Please don't forget, tonight is the night I turn off the remote dashboard software. When you log in remotely next time you'll see the normal windows 8.1 style screen - it'll be just like you're using a computer at work. If you have any queries about this, please just contact me" Them: "I think the batteries in my projector remote are flat, have you got any more?" 1
7UD9 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Me: Hi $teacher, in order to fix $problem, I need to know which PCs you use around school other than $main classroom Teacher (emailing from the staff workroom): None Me: I see you're using a PC in the staff workroom at the moment, do you use the PCs in there frequently? Teacher: Yes, I use any free PC in here when my classroom is in use Me: Do you teach in any other classrooms than $main classroom Teacher: Yes, $room 1, $room 2, $room 3, $room 4 1
SteveBentley Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 "Is this on our website?" is a frequent one from a particular member of staff who clearly hadn't bothered to look. "Yes, there's a big banner right in the middle of the home page, is it too subtle?" was about as sarcastic as I thought I could get away with last time.
Miscbrah Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 I send = "and you'll need to change your password." I get = "Do I have to change my password?" Holy flurking shnit.
rad Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 You ask 2 or 3 questions, receive a reply answering only one of them. The other questions are relevant and require answering too
Nixon77 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Just the other week, I want to buy some Apple VPP credit, Apple person: How many iPads do you HAVE? 120 I reply. An hour later I get five emails from sellers offering me quotes for 120 iPads. Then you get the obvious, "What is your email, or what is my email."
DJ-1701 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 You ask 2 or 3 questions, receive a reply answering only one of them. The other questions are relevant and require answering too Can very much relate to that... Although the question that is 'answered' isn't really an answer, but a vague response which can be read in multiple ways. Sometimes it makes you question if if we speak the same language.
Andrew_C Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Treat users like children; make sure your last question/requirement is the important one. It is the only one they'll remember.
sparkeh Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 *6 months ago* Me: "remember we are switching over from Gmail to 365 today... Blah blah blah" *Yesterday* Reply to email: "I can't seem to log into my Gmail account. It's says the password was changed 6 months ago!" *facepalm*
twin--turbo Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 (edited) one of my suppliers who puts in our data points etc. Me: "Hi sup, can you supply me 2x 1u 19" Brush strips" sup: "What's one of them, why do you want it??" Me: "Eh it's a19" Brush strip for a cabinet. And I need them" sup: "like a cable manager, whats wrong with the arm style ones I use?" Me: "So I can get power cables out the front of the cab." Me: "Hi sup, can you supply me with 10 30cm red CAT6A patch leads" sup: "Why do you want them" Me: "Because I need them" sup: "30CM?" Me: "Yes" sup: "Why so short?" Me: "I don't want them any longer" Me: "Need a 620 or 630 RPS" sup: "What for?" Me: "err, RPS for the 2910's" sup: "Will have a look, think I have a 610 in stock, or something else.." Sigh.... 610's are not even supposed to be compatible. Me: "Quote me some AP's for this wireless I need" sup: "I have these, or these, we use these all over" Sigh.. It's 2016 and they don't even do "N" FFS: I do all the leg work, specify just what I want and the "Expert Supplier" either does not know what he is doing or questions everything I am doing.
