Best Colour Laser Printers

Which colour laser printers are people currently buying for schools?

 

We have HP C3525 and they are not bad on ink pricing but we have a HP M552 and if we buy the "X" toners they cost a fortune !

 

Just wondered what people find best value for money

We use OKI, but then we're in a leasing agreement for ours. Decent printers, though, for the money.

For cost, an HP OfficeJet Pro X451dw; inkjet, but running costs were about half what we were paying on laser. If it's high volume, an X555 is more capital but cheaper running costs. Tipping point was about 2300 pages per month.

 

For quality, the laser HP M651 is actually colour accurate. Gorgeous quality on plain paper.

 

I am not actually a HP shill, it's just coincidence that two printer threads have come up so close to each other and I actually have useful advice for once instead of just sarcasm.

Big fan of the HP OfficeJet Pro X inkjets - they're fast, reliable, use less power, and the cost per print works out as cheap as or cheaper than our old lasers.

 

Definitely worth a look.

I can sell you, for a very reasonable price a moderately used and fully functioning Ricoh C431DN with 4 sets of toners, drums, belts and fusers...

 

If you bought the printer and consumables you'd be looking at more than 3k.

We are using the HP Pro 400 Printers. We have been using them for about 2 years now and we have not had an problems with them.

We've got some of these. They are OK printers, but I find them really expensive to run on toner. We use compatibles, and the 4k yield toners for the Pro 400s costs us the same as 12k yield ones for the 3525dn's.

Brother MFP-9140CDN gets our vote. Reasonable price, reliable, the cartridges go back to Brother freepost for recycling and the Admin and Teaching Staff can even manage to change the toner cartridges without technical input

Yes I have to agree that the toner can go quite quick. however we use combat inks and because they are so cheap to buy at around £20 it dosent seem to bother us.

 

The quality of printing is brilliant.

We have a number of OKI devices. They produce good quality print jobs, and you basically get what you pay for. They are a bit unforgiving when stocking with paper, their support can be a bit flakey at times, they're not the quickest...but for a budget printer they do what it says on the tin.

I don't know what recent models are like, but the Oki lasers we put in 5 and a bit years ago (and recently replaced) were uneven in the tone they produced; there was a crosshatching pattern visible even on solid colours, like some kind of cheap tartan. This was on the ES6410 for A4 and ES8460 for A3.

We have a mix of mono and colour and the print quality is really good...last year's models.
