newpersn Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I'm wanting to order a few computer parts in the next few weeks. who would be the best supplier? If i was at home i would use Ebuyer, Dabs and so on. Ive heard mixed thoughts about ebuyer and there accounts. Just wondered what you guys use...
Arthur Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 (edited) Usually BT Business Direct, Novatech, Amazon or Scan. Based on past experiences I try to avoid eBuyer as much as possible. Edited November 16, 2015 by Arthur 1
southhamster Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 We've been quite pleased with Insight. They respond quickly as far no mess ups.
dry Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) BT Business Direct are the parent of Dabs. Their account managers are very keen and will normally cut a few % off your order even on small orders. Service very good. Large range of products. I particularly like how extensive their search filters are- allows you to cut 90% of the crud you're not interested in out very quickly. We normally go with whoever is cheapest to be honest, even if that means buying via ebay. A lot of the big parts companies have ebay stores where they offer the same products as their main site but with a discount. Edited November 17, 2015 by dry
Oaktech Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 +1 for BT Business. They are really easy to deal with, but unless you are putting reasonable $ their way you won't get much discount - I used to put about 30k a year through them at my last place and I got about 20% discount off most stuff - more off HP. Now I only put about 4k a year though at my new place unless it's HP I really only get 5%.
mikkydoos Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 +1 Scan Ebuyer are great but getting an account with them is a lot of unnecessary hastle.
Boredguy Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 We use Ballicom, as well as Insight and Misco for some bits and pieces.
localzuk Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 My preferred resellers at the moment are: Paul Topham at IDNS and Mica Lisk at Softcat. Both great companies and both great account managers. I used to use Insight and European Electronique a lot but my account manager at each moved on and it all fell apart. So, in my experience, the account manager is more important than the company a lot of the time!
pow Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Mica is great, she's been absolutely brilliant for me. SoftCat have a high turn over off staff, I hope she stays put for a while
hardtailstar Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Mica is great, she's been absolutely brilliant for me. SoftCat have a high turn over off staff, I hope she stays put for a while I noticed that in my old place when we bought from them, I think in 2 years we had about 4 account managers. Good company though.
southhamster Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Forgot to mention CPC. Great for small but annoying things like screws, cables batteries adapters tools cards etc. Not always so good on whole items like PCS laptops etc but sometimes good value end of line printers etc. Preston people can even collect from their trade counter.
