Any NFL Fans Here?

I was at the Kansas v Detroit game at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. What an experience, never in my life did I think I'd get into NFL but it was far more fun to watch live and my friend helped explain the somewhat complicated rules! More depth in the sport than I realized and it was a good day out even if my Detroit supporting friend was somewhat dismayed at the drubbing his team received.

 

Do we have any other NFL fans on the forum?

i kind of watch it and would love to go to a game at wembley but i just cant get anyone else to go as they dont care enough and i suspect on my own would be much less fun

My dad is a massive Oakland Raiders fan - he's been on holiday to the states to watch them - so I grew up with NFL. I like it, but my wife can't stand it so my viewing is restricted to late night highlights and the superbowl.

 

I've been a Tennessee Titans fan ever since the franchise was founded.

Big Chicago Bears fan here, used to play locally, but no leagues anywhere near us, brother has NFL game day pass, so watch every game, usually watching the 60 min highlight during the week at some point

 

My main issue being price of shirts, can be picked up for $20 in US, but import here are around £90 usually... completely ridiciulous

I watch occasionally, actually planning on taking the day after the Superbowl off this year so I can stay up and watch the game, get some pizzas in etc. Got a family link with the Redskins but seriously doubt they will be troubling the Superbowl fixture list!

I got Redskins a few years ago in a "Supporters Draw" (Read: Hotel room after too much booze and a friend saying "close your eyes and point to this bit of paper because I'm getting you all into NFL!"). I hear they want to play Wembley next year as a home match so I'll be along to that! Sadly they are embroiled in a US race row over their name so I'm not paying out for an expensive jersey when the franchise could be forcibly rebranded at any moment.

Texans fan here. I had tickets for the Bills vs Jags Wembley game last month but sadly didn't end up going I have been before though and agree watching it live is something special!

 

If you haven't already, I highly recommend watching the Hard Knocks series, really interesting watch.

I'll watch any team play really but mainly a Packers fan Got my Aaron Rodgers shirt and everything. Only been into it for 3 years but once I got my head around the rules I was hooked! But by far I'm a bigger NBA fan - been following that like a complete nerd for 20 years!

I was a massive fan many years ago; during the early years when Channel 4 started broadcasting NFL. And before the days of the T'interweb and introduction of numerous cable/satellite channels we used to work out what time games were being played state side and tune in, and listen to commentary via Armed Forces Radio Network! (I think on LW?? as it kept fading at times during the night!)

 

I'm a Miami Dolphins fan.. (Dan Marino!) and my Dad supported San Francisco 49ers (Joe Montana)...which worked out great, as we ended up going to The American Bowl at (original) Wembley Stadium way back in July 1988 to watch the very same 2 teams play against each other! Great Day! Especially as Miami Dolphins won!

 

I would still love to go and watch and experience the atmosphere at a game in USA though. Full on, family/friends inclusive event.

Oh I'd love to go stateside and watch some games! That's my big aim eventually. I'd quite like to go watch some college American football games too - their stadiums can be HUUUUGGGEEE!!!! (I'm thinking Penn State for one)

I do wonder what the US national anthem must be like at a stateside NFL event, you could hear the tumbleweed at Wembley when they sang it.

 

(Not that many sang the UK anthem either as they didn't use the proper drum-roll version for belting out at national events but some slowed down variant).

Pick have shown a couple this year - They're a Sky company, so do it to try to drum up business. Just a shame the commentary is rubbish on Sky - If only they'd hire Mike Carlson! I'm more college football than NFL (having lived just outside a US Uni campus once, it's infectious!), and the Spartans lost their first game this weekend, and as a nominal Lions fan, I might as well give up on the NFL anyway!

Resurrecting a *very* dead post here, but didn't want to create a new one since I was going to ask the same question!

 

Long-suffering Miami Dolphins fan here, I've only been following the NFL closely for the last few years but I've been a Dolphins fan since my dad got me a Marino jersey growing up. I got to see them two years in a row at Wembley, which was great! This year has been the first year I couldn't go.

 

Anyone following the season this year? Despite the Dolphins not doing so well, I've really enjoyed following other teams. Some amazing things happening in other teams, like the Cowboys and their incredible rookie starters!

Steelers fan here, Dolphins gave them a bit of a beating on Sunday. QB Roethlisberger is in surgery today, hope he's back soon. Been lucky enough to see them several times in the US while I was working there, my brother in law has season tickets. An NFL game has the best atmosphere.

I was fully expecting it to be the other way around! The Dolphins have been terrible up until Sunday. I'm only sorry it happened to the Steelers, I like the Steelers and I really hope they go on to the playoffs and beyond. Anyone but the Patriots!

My dad and I took the plunge and went halves on the NFL GamePass. £140, but it's all the games on demand. We don't have Sky Sports or BT Sport either.
