Blue tint?

Help! I've been informed that a student needs a blue tint to their screen. I'm assuming this is done via accessibilities somewhere, I've looked, I've googled and I can't find anything bar people who have a fault on their monitor. Has anyone else needed this or know where the setting is? It'd need to be applied every time he logged in so I'm guessing via profiles or a gpo.

You should be able to get some blue sunglasses at a petrol station

Or wiggle the VGA cable a bit until the screen goes blue?

In this case then, would it be worth while getting a named user laptop and setting the screen settings to be ok for the student? Hopefully the SEN budget should allow this.

If the student turns on the Ease of Use High Contrast option at the logon screen, does that help them for that step.

 

We looked at a blue tint for one of our students who was having problem with Office last term but we have not had any information back from their IT teacher if it made much difference to them.

This would be one way or to have roaming users setup for the student so they can uses any computer on site. I think @DJ-1701 has the right idea a laptop only that student uses would be easy to set up

That could be problematic as any profile based software solution isn't going to kick in until after he logs in.

If your budget can't stretch to a laptop then maybe look at some sort of screen overlay like this

That was my thought, I'm now waiting for someone from EPIC (SEN) to tell me if that will do. HAHAHAHA who said budget? whats a budget?

A budget is that magical thing that we should have but always seems to fall between something and nothing (and more often than not it's nothing) but if the pupil has a named allowance then it can be used to get some IT provision in. We just got a HP netbook for one of our Y11 students for around £200 from his allocation so there is always options.

 

Much nicer if we can address the students issues with free solutions though.

When we had a need for this I just used a sheet of lighting gel from Drama and it was perfect and some stiff card from Art and made a DIY filter for them with hanging hooks to drop over screens as we had a large range of screen sizes but seemed to work as the cost of filter software was quite high and the one SEN wanted was per machine and they wouldn't fund a laptop / netbook for the student and yeh was a lot of cash to license for all machines / areas etc
