I agree with others, it's a combination of factors including the cost of bandwidth and the availability. A lot of the cloud services to schools are free or cheap, but connecting everyone to that resource is still a problem. If it were readily available and cost effective, we'd all be doing it, but it really isn't at the current time. we have 4 schools, on a shared 200/200 fibre (was £500 difference between 100 and 200 so why not) and to be perfectly honest, the only time i EVER see the line get dented is iPad deployment days if the apple cache server decides to not play nice - id say i have about 800-1000 devices between the schools depending on the day our old 20/20 line used to get killed for hours at a time - the key is having fast enough burst to get the requests/content delivered quick so there is never a buildup of traffic. since the upgrade a few of our teachers have embraced the cloud storage/services we provide without being prompted

sparkeh Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Sorry if this has been posted before but after banging my head on the desk over getting Win 10 Education to activate via a Server 2012R2 KMS host, I thought I'd just post what to do to help anyone else who probably didn't RTFM like me! Install the following patch to your KMS host: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3058168 Request the following KMS key from VLSC "Windows Srv 2012R2 DataCtr/Std KMS for Windows 10" and install on your KMS host Slaughter a fatted calf in the centre of a pentagram during a waning moon. Seems so simple now I write it down... Oh! And note that for some reason, if you setup a new KMS host on 2012R2 the KMS listening port defaults to port 0! It should be 1688.

Windows 10 education is only available with a volume agreement.

MrEprise Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 We lost Pro, Enterprise & Education last week (but LTSB was still there) so contacted MS to find out why they were missing and were told that while we were entitled to Pro, Edu and Ent LTSB, we weren't entitled to Enterprise and wouldn't be restoring that one to our VLSC account. So I've just checked again this morning - we have all the editions showing as well as the keys (inc. Enterprise MAK and KMS) so MS don't seem too bothered that we're still getting it?

My VLSC contains lots of software we're not licensed for. In the product keys section I only have MAKs for Education, Enterprise LTSB and Pro however. localzuk Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 I'm still 100% sure on LTSB also. Cannot see a reason to use the "Education" one, which appears to basically be a consumer edition with enterprise extras.
