Yeah, it definately didn't look choppy, just slow. For example, there was a speeder chase scene in episode 3 that I watched last night and it was just so slow! It looked like they were going 20MPH, despite the camera and set pieces made to look higher impact!

Pam and Tommy. 2 episodes in, and it's been quite good so far. Lily James looks nothing like herself until she smiles, and then you can see it's her.

The makeup department should be getting all the awards for Lily's transformation and all of the fake private bits on show.

I'm now caught up with The Book of Boba Fett, so need to see what's next on my list of things to watch. I'm thinking Season 2 of What We Do In The Shadows.

 

it would just look choppy then. Wonder if they planned to film it undercranked and then couldn't on the day because the cameras/vfx wouldn't do that

I'm actually wondering if my TV was contributing to the poor viewing experience of the action scenes (though I haven't noticed it in other shows). I have a LG C1 and I've specifically turned off all the TruMotion crap. But is seems that the built-in Dolby Cinema profiles also have it enabled, which by default, locks out individual settings (including TruMotion). I had to disable the "Auto-Genre" setting, which automatically choses picture profiles based on the source feed, then I could toggle the individual settings.

Definitely recommend WWDITS, I binged series 2 and 3 a month or two back as I saw the original series when it came out, missed series 2 as I was busy and 3 was then out. It just seemed to get better and better as it went on.

Maybe it's season 3. Whichever is the latest seasons that aired before Christmas, that's the one I haven't seen. I do love the show!

And, OK, I tried Expanse again and this time we have got a bit further and we still vaguely understand what in heck is going on

How far in have you got? Have to say I felt like this as well to begin with. I watched about 3 episodes the first time and while it was good I had the same feeling that I was missing something. Second time I stuck with it and it does get better.

 

I think maybe there is a lot of world building needed to really get comfortable with what is actually going on in the story. It kind of just chucks you straight into it and it takes a little while to know who the different factions and people are that are involved and not have to keep questioning what and why. I felt the same way about the Foundation TV show. The first few episodes seemed super convoluted and complex until I got to know the world and characters better.

The on-screen pic and description didn't do a very good job of selling it; the trailer does but gives a little too much away. From that ep I'd say that if you enjoyed "Alias" and want to try something with a mom rather than a young woman, give it a go. Stick with it until the interrogation/recruitment scene is over and if you're not interested by then it's probably not for you. Wish we had had time to watch two eps, as the ending is a real doozy.

Ah, see I was beaten to it (damn being busy and not having time to post replies)... was going to post that the OH saw it was getting a reboot after some resurgence in interest due to 'lockdown' viewing... it was mainly the OH that watched it though (can't imagine why)...

From that ep I'd say that if you enjoyed "Alias" and want to try something with a mom rather than a young woman, give it a go. I saw that but skipped past it, as you say it didn't really catch my eye... used to like 'Alias', but maybe that was just due to Jennifer Garner...

Reacher is good fun on Prime.

 

Watched the first ep last night. It was kinda ironic that Will Robinson from "Lost In Space" as young Reacher is actually taller than the last incarnation of the character. Not read the books, but always got the impression that Reacher was a natural giant; this guy looks like it's protein shakes and hours of weights.

 

Anyway, quite fun, but not one to think about too deeply. (Like why does a town of 1700 need so many police etc?).

I've got Reacher, wheel of time and everyone must die (or something like that.. the Korean zombie thing) so I've a mix of everything currently on the go.

 

I actually really liked TC in Jack Reacher but any of the fanboys who read the books hated him.

I actually really liked TC in Jack Reacher but any of the fanboys who read the books hated him.

 

In the books, Reacher is 6’6” and is 250lb of pure muscle. In an early book, Reacher worked as a builder and bouncer and put on further bulk. In that book, he got shot in the chest and his mighty pecks saved him, albeit he got sent in a coma.

 

Tom Cruise just doesn’t meet that description, he’s neither tall nor is he muscular. In the new series, the actor is at least muscular even if he isn’t 6’6”.

The Protector on Netflix.

 

Nothing to do with

 

 

but another Turkey-set show from the guy behind "The Gift"/Atiye and "Into The Night". It even features the Turkish guy from the latter. This one is about - don't laugh - a shirt that bestows superpowers on the right wearer. So far (Episode 3) it's actually a lot of fun, and the acting is better than in "The Gift". Not one to rush to see, but if you're running out of shows or looking for something in a different setting to normal, you could do worse.

Thanks to BritBox, I have been watching A Touch Of Frost, after I watched all of the Brittas Empire and had a Tom Baker and Sylvester McCoy Doctor Who Binge.

We are box setting Reacher (Prime Video)

 

While it isn't "brilliant/unmissable" it does hold the interest and has moments where it can be surprising, engaging and even (occasionally) amusing.
