I think it got better. My gf who is super fussy liked it.

Thanks, did give it another go (Ep 4) and I did enjoy it (though the idea of the Yanks giving up their guns seems even further away now), but Mme LeMarchand fell asleep (she was feeling coldy). I suspect that it's going to have to go on the "one day when I have time" pile. Interesting that nearly all the lead ladies are from the UK/Ireland.

Enjoyed the ending to Westworld... be ok if they left it there too and didnt make any more. Designated Survivor is grating now as I want an ending... theres so much silently turning aways from the camera in deep thought. Waslking Dead for me is getting a bit tired... especially with the pantomime villain in it, would you like some ham with that acting?

Looking forward to the geekiness of the DC programs this week with the crossovers.

Must admit I am getting tired of The Walking Dead as well. Which is a shame as I loved it for a long time.

New time travel show - Timeless starting on E4 on Wednesday I think...

Recently, Penny Dreadful. Creator Jon Logan claims that it ended the way he wanted, though I have my suspicions that it was originally designed to run for one more season. Either way, it went out well.

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. I'm torn. On the one hand, only a trip to the USA could see something like Dirk Gently turned into the usual guns+guns+guns+body count and totally ignore the character of the character. Next will be Jeeves and Wooster with RPG's, car chases and Kung-fu, where Wooster works at a drive through and Jeeves is just her friend. Other than having nothing much to do with Douglas Adams creation and relying overly on the power through weapons and violence meme which no USAian show seems to be able to do without, I did quite enjoy this. They do seem to have stolen Dirks Nemesis straight from Orphan Black (Helena) and that's not all they have plundered. But they have woven it all into a nicely paced story with twists and turns at every opportunity and you know the craft is reasonably good when you want to watch ... just one more.

But Guns America - get over them for goodness sake!

My lad has been watching the 80's Transformers cartoon with me recently. It's still excellent though it gets cheesier with each passing year.

However we stumbled upon Transformers Prime on Netflix recently. I'm delighted to say that it's actually pretty darn good. It's beautifully animated for one thing, they dig into a lot of history and do some clever things with the characters.

For a bit of a G1 stalwart like myself I'm suitably impressed :)

Try the aforementioned "Into the Badlands". It's set in a future America where they have voluntarily given up guns (!) post apocalypse. Admittedly, they just use martial arts/swords to kill each other.

if you like old transformers the new remaster of the movie is massively better than the old version

I thought Transformers Prime / Beast Hunters was excellent. Robots in Disguise however is a really quite rubbish. Now I've watched all of the G1 transformers episodes I would have been just as happy missing out almost all of the ones that occur after the movie

Just finished watching Detectorists again.

It's a show that just shouldn't work. It's gentle, very real and makes you just realise how the simple things in life work for some people.

Utterly engrossing :)

They may be shooting season 3 next summer.

Just been watching this. They have torn the hear and soul out of the whole premise behind Dirk Gently.

I started Mr. Robot last night. I know i'm late but I've been busy. I liked it, but found it a bit "eye rolley" at times. At one point they are discussing which linux desktop environment they are using and talking about Gnome and KDE. Kinda felt like they shoe horned it into the script just for the sake of pleasing geeks. Could do without those parts.

Kinda, yeah, but it did serve a purpose.. It was to highlight that this particular Suit was actually tech-savvy, unlike all the other Suits he'd previously encountered. (Fairly certain there was an Elliot voiceover/monologue mentioning that)

Dropped out of Mr. Robot midway through Season 2.. It just goes off-the-rails too much regarding [a certain plot point I'm not going to spoil] and I lost interest.

Hmm. I've only seen the first episode so I'll keep at it, but i'd rather a decent story line than feeling pleased with myself for understanding the "jargon". I need a series to get into now though as Westworld has finished. Only got Masterchef at the minute :p

Mr Robot isn't about tech, it's about mental illness.

Also Trump is totally a Westworld robot, they can't get the hands right, which is why he pretends to be germophobic, and can't pass a turing test.

I think everyone who has seen the first 15 minutes knows it's about mental illness. No one is saying it isn't.

Timeless

Nice to see a time travel programme that acknowledges that a tiny change can have a huge effect!

I watched the pilot and never found the time for more. Will try to give it a couple more episodes.
