To Office 2013 or not

We are currently using Office 2010 and I have been looking at possibly upgrading to 2013 this Summer for the entire site. We have already been using it on our terminal servers and there hasn't been any issues and I know it is already supported with SIMS but I was just wondering what the general opinion is like and if many have made the jump? is there anything to watch out for?

There's no reasons for or against really. Down to preference. Had any feedback from staff and pupils?

We use 2013 and on whole it's fine, some staff prefer 2010 and don't like new tech but it's been fine on the whole, I like it and use it although I don't love it's superwhiteness and the way outlook behaves with replying by default making things into "conversations" but you can change all that to suit your needs

We are in the process of moving everyone over to 2013 at the moment, only 2 or 3 left to do! Do have complaints as expected but you have to move forward eventually! Trouble we had is with older machines it did seem to run extremely slow and had to change settings etc. to speed it up.

We had some performance problems on our oldest machines (Pentium D's), but then they're just slow full stop.

 

Otherwise, we've only had a couple of user training issues.

One feature of 2013 staff may like is the fact you can open and edit PDFs in Word without any 3rd party software handy for editing resources from online websites to make them your own This isn't 100% perfect but works for a good number of them.

Subject to testing, I'm planning on migrating users from Office 2010 > Office 2016, skipping Office 2013 altogether. Office 2016 is due for an Autumn 2015 release.

Been on 2013 for a year or so now. The upgrade was very straightforward site-wide with scripting, even easier than 2010 was. Few issues - a weird Powerpoint crash with URLs that fixed itself, and oddness with embedding Youtube videos into PP. I would go to 2013 personally - Office is generally a bit of a dog until the first SP.

i'm migrating to office 2013 over the summer, been testing it in various areas since Feb half term with no major issues, any small issues have been resolved by changes to gpos

Ditto!! Although we are currently on 2013.. Saying that I'm moving jobs in a month! There on 2010 I'll probs wait for 2016! Get that going!!

The main things that staff dislike are the lack of the photo editor that was in 2010 (something I have never used) although we added it back for some people form the 2010 install. The PAs got frustrated with in Outlook not being able to double click their manager's calendar entry to input a meeting (works with schedule view or with owner rights) like they did with 2010.
