In terms of the printing though?

It's a server/client setup. I only use one linux machine as both the client and server, but you could quite easily use an iPad as a client whilst the server handles all the printing of the badges and fire list.

It took a while but was a side project for a quite some time. Been in use in two schools for a couple of years.

It is my intention to release it once the code is tidied up. The current code is a mess as it started out just the staff then visitors, regular visitors, pre-booked visitors and other bits have been added and slotted in here and there.

There's also currently no installation script for the mysql.

If it's something people are interested in I can try and get a shift on doing it.

Does it have the option to record number plate, for visitors, and DBS details?

It does for number plate but not dbs details. Although it does have a tick box on the printed badge for the office staff to tick if they have seen it etc.

I have also built our sign-in system - This is what we use for all staff (we have RFID cards). It has a PHP/MySQL backend and a .NET application for the sign-in frontend.

It handles all staff/visitor sign-ins. Working patterns, reporting, email reminders, fire register (hooked into NET2 Access Control) so it automatically prints the fire register once the fire alarm goes off.

We couldn't find anything on the market at the time that did everything that we wanted.

It is still very much in development, but currently live with all staff/visitors.

Wow,wow,wow,wow,

Please release this! Love you forever if you do.

Same goes to bladedanny

I made a nice php/sql web based one for our school. Runs in a full screen browser on a touch screen with a receipt printer for a fire list and a label printer to print off visitor badges. Feedback from staff and ofsted has been good.

I'm currently writing v2 which will be pretty much the same but just tidier code and a better design.
