Started Lego Jurassic Park with my sister on local co-op. Before this the last Lego game I played was the original Lego Star Wars on PS2, so this one's a big step onwards since their early days. It's a lot of fun, and you get to play as dinosaurs! :)

Finished Murdered: Soul Suspect (glad it was cheap) and decided to try some of the other freebies/almost freebies that I'd accumulated. Also glad these were cheap!

Hitman. First of these I've attempted, and quite liked it, but couldn't work out how to get past the tutorial (maybe that's why it was free/cheap?). Gave up.

Injustice: Gods Among Us. Not really my sort of game, but free. Not much fun solo. Gave up.

Star Wars: Battlefront. Also not normally my sort of game, but free. Reminded me why I have never wanted a motorbike. Gave up.

Dollhouse. Might have been OK, but the tutorial level didn't give you enough help to get into it. Gave up.

Amnesia Collection. Maybe I should have waited until after dark, but couldn't see a thing. Gave up.

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. Yay! One I could get on with. Only just started, but have found out that it was my fault that Charles Dickens never got to complete "Drood". Jacob and Evie's accents and demeanour are a bit all over the shop, though.

I've been playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 over the weekend (the one that just released, not the one I played back in 2009...). I have a less than stellar history with the franchise, and swore off playing the majority of competitive multiplayer games of its ilk for a good couple of years because they made me angry and I didn't want to suffer that anymore. This year, the itch to play a multiplayer FPS returned and my friends were interested too, so the conditions were right.

I've mainly been playing the multiplayer with friends and so far, I'm enjoying it. They have a new system for unlocking new weapons which belong to the same model "family", where you have to use the base variant and level it up to a certain point to unlock the next in the family. I've really taken to it, because it forces me to experiment with different loadouts and gives me some progression to play towards. I'm far from good at the game, but I have my moments!

Speaking of COD I'm keen to try out the Warzone 2 Battle Royale F2P when it's out in a couple of weeks time. If anyone fancies a game online when it releases let me know!

How have you found the performance of the game? (MW2 2022) I'm playing on PC with some high end hardware yet still freeze while in the lobby waiting for the games to load! very annoying!!! Edited by ConTheITGuy

I'm also playing on PC, on what might have been considered on the fringe of high end a couple of years ago (RTX 2070 Super, i7 10700k, 32GB RAM) and yes, I've had one or two crashes and the lobby sometimes freezes up. However, I consider myself mostly fortunate compared to my friends, who have been dealing with more crashes and latency spikes when playing. I know there's an issue with the latest Nvidia driver, if you're running an Nvidia GPU with that - I'm on driver version 516.94 and had comparatively fewer issues.

Without DLSS, I average between 80-110 FPS in games - I have it capped at 120 FPS, which is what my monitor's refresh rate is set to. I prefer to avoid DLSS because to me, the degradation in image quality is really noticeable.

There is a parallax option in the interface settings, turn that off - It fixed the majority of performance issues I was having in the menus.

I've also found that playing in a party of more than 3 increases the chance of crashing exponentially.

Gameplay is great, although I'm not a lover of the new perk system. Having two of the perk slots unavailable till late in the match, seems to unbalance the game. Especially when a perk like Ghost isn't available early on with the UAV spam.

I'm also finding most of the maps are 'okay', I haven't played on what I would consider a standout map along the lines of Terminal or Estate from the previous MW2. I expect that to be remedied in updates, as I doubt they'd pass up the chance to remaster a few of those old maps.

That's interesting - I might check that out myself.

I agree with both points - The perks don't make sense to me either, and there's not really a map that I would describe as my absolute favourite (Maybe El Asilo or Farm 18?), and at least two of them can be turned into spawn traps. I've exclusively played TDM though, so maybe I'm not seeing some better maps.

I really dislike a lot of the maps, my favourite is the F1 Track map...... I'm also sure that a map from the beta is missing from the game, I really liked that map

There is one missing - The museum map. I haven't actually played the F1 track map - I wonder if that's just not in the TDM rotation?

Now thinking about it I've only played DOM and S&D on it, I haven't seen it on a TDM yet

I may have to try an objective game mode to have a go at it then! I wonder if Kill Confirmed counts?

I think it might! a lot of sweaty players on Kill Confirmed.... very tilting while I'm going for platinum ARs

Having played a bit more Modern Warfare 2 MP last night, I'm noticing that already, spawn trapping is widespread in TDM - Particularly on the Border Crossing map, the Al Bagra Fortress map and the Zarqwa Hydroelectric map. It seems that I'm often on the receiving end of the spawn trapping, and it's rather frustrating! It really shouldn't be the case, especially for a non-objective game mode.

However, I'm still enjoying the game. I think the Kastov line of guns are just a bit too beefy - They're very accurate and (in my experience, at least) seem to have a higher DPS than most weapons I've tried. The DPS would be fine if the recoil was tweaked just a little.

I also tried the F1 map last night in a game of Domination, and I really didn't get on with it! Perhaps it's just the game mode - I think we lost every game of Domination we played, and if I'm playing an objective game mode, I play the objective as much as I can... We didn't try Kill Confirmed!

I played ground war yesterday and didn't like it at all! maybe it was because I needed long shots for platinum on the M4, I do like invasion though.

On the topic of camos, you've reminded me about the camo select menu - What an awful thing! I guess it's suited for controllers more than KB&M but I find it really difficult to find the ones I've unlocked. I'd like them to add an optional filter to display only unlocked camos.

I was reading that the whole UI is getting a re-design due to such a poor response from fans, lets hope its something better.

I'm still enjoying Modern Warfare 2, but the Halo: Infinite Winter Update released yesterday with co-op campaign and Forge. I'm very eager to revisit the multiplayer for the first time in almost a year and mess about in Forge!

I upgraded my system over the weekend to an i7-13700K and 6000MHz DDR5 and it seems that cod doesn't like it, crashing whenever I go over 300 FPS. Temps are ok CPU around 60-70 and GPU around 60.

Hopefully the update tonight will help performance!

Woah, that's a meaty upgrade! Hopefully you can work out the teething problems.

I've not thought about upgrading my PC for a couple of years, save for replacing the 10+ year old HDD(s) that originally came with the pre-built PC I've now almost entirely replaced. The 2070 Super still seems to be perfectly fine until you try ray-tracing, as does my 10th gen i7. If I replace anything, it'll probably end up being yet another complete rebuild with a new motherboard with a new socket type, and I don't have the money or energy for that at the moment!

Back on topic, I've been splitting my time between Modern Warfare 2 when my friends are online / up for it and Halo: Infinite when they're not. I've exclusively been working in the new Forge mode and it's far more complex than any of the Forge modes I've used before (I was most prolific in Halo 3 & Reach - Halo 4's Forge mode was a step back and I didn't play a lot of Halo 5). To find my feet, I've been recreating a map I originally made in Halo 3 and it's been so satisfying to bring it back to life and learning as I go. Hopefully, I can actually make it usable while also being interesting and fun to play...

I think it'll definitely be worth it a couple of months down the line, when a few of the community-made maps and game modes are hopefully picked up by the devs and added to the regular playlists. They've just added a couple of new maps but there's still not really enough variety.
