FFVII arrived a week early! :D

 

But I have a toddler, so TV time is severely limited...

 

Still, very much enjoying the 3-4 hours played so far. And the soundtrack is amazing, glad I bought deluxe version just for that!

 

I've refused to buy a PS4 so will have to wait until it releases on xbox, either this autumn or in the new year.

 

In the meantime, I've picked up Star Trek online since it is free to play. It's been decent fun so far even if the initial storyline that gets you your ship is slightly more ridiculous that the Star Trek Movie reboot!

Just completed a lovely time travel mission that puts Picard-era Seven of Nine on your team and catapults you back to TOS/Discovery era to work with Michael Burnham.

 

Marvellous stuff.

I've just started Borderlands 3, just because. I also have Control, Halo: Reach and Halo: Combat Evolved from the Master Chief Collection on my list. After that I don't really have any games that interest me at the moment.

I tend not to be a huge mmo fan, but if you can do decent parts of it solo and it costs me nothing them I'm sold! :)

 

I've played the original FFVII dozens of times. The Remake on the other hand. I want to own that.

But as I've not been the owner of a Playstation since 2001 I have to wait for the Xbox version to be released.

Keep us posted on that, it looks interesting.

 

Worth a go I'd say.

 

Played a few hours this week, levelled up enough to get a slightly better ship. Got some nice custom Phasers and torps.

 

Visited Deep Space 9 which was fun.

Did a little Co-Op mission to boot some Romulans out of an asteroid mining field and got nice rewards.

 

You get to train up your bridge crew / away team too and they give you extra abilities in space & ground missions.

My little team is coming along nicely.

 

I'll play it for a few more weeks yet I reckon :)

 

The system requirements are really low too so it'll pretty much run on anything!

I've played STO on and off throughout its life. It's entirely free to play (you can pay to buy special ships and cosmetic stuff, but you can earn very impressive stuff for nothing so that's purely a "nice to have"), and none of the story content requires group play.

 

If they've introduced some Picard-inspired missions I might go play them....

Also worth a go is Star Wars The Old Republic, another MMO that requires zero group play and is free to play (with some restrictions on how much "gold" you can have as a F2P etc.). The storylines (of which there are 8 character ones, and about 8 more character-agnostic ones in the expansions) are absolutely fantastic and worth a go for any Star Wars fan.

 

The Imperial Agent story is effectively Jason Bourne IN SPACE, while the Sith Inquisitor one is, IMO, the ultimate nothing-to-nightmare story.

My problem with The Old Republic is how desperately badly they did with the Revan storyline. It was a mess.

They undid so much of the superb writing form the first two Knights of the Old Republic games that it left me angry.

I agree about Revan's storyline undoing all the complexity, but the other parts of the plots are pretty good. The KOTFE/KOTET expansion would've been better as a standalone story rather than trying to weave it so closely to the main Sith Emperor stuff, but it's still a very solid sci-fi story.

The switch to keyboard for the P.C. version is probably the biggest challenge. I think all I'm being setup for labouring work in one of their realms! What I'd like to do is have the three of us learn a new game together. I want to avoid combat/fighting or otherwise overly competitive. I'm thinking some kind of adventure/strategy gaming with a degree of problem/puzzle solving as they are strong on logic challenges. It would probably need to grab their attention fairly quickly. Any suggestions? PC platform preferred, multi-user if possible to allow us to play concurrently, not too expensive!"

Or Rayman Legends, enjoyed that a lot on the Wii U, now available on Steam for upto 4 player Co-Op.

 

Ubisoft offer Rayman Legends for free on a regular basis, it's worth keeping and eye out!

Overcooked 1 & 2 great for local play, and Overcooked 2 lets you play over the internet on different PC's.

 

Portal 2 might be a good one but it's only 2 person co-op.

 

Adventure Maps in Minecraft are possibly a good shout - they give you a 'story' or 'questline' to work your way through together.

Inversus looks as though it could be simple fun - a bit like paper io?

Trine looks promising currently on discount on steam £2.49 for the original or a few pence under £16 for the Ultimate collection - I presume that's good value?

It appears we have Rayman Legends for the Xbox 360 but have never tried it so perhaps we should.

I like the Adventure Maps in Minecraft idea - a questline sounds worth a look. They've had me practising on PC Minecraft and I now have a stash of stuff but need more diamonds! Are adventures similar to realms - any suggestions to get started?

In the meantime, they've gone for Astroneer on Steam - but I'm waiting for a price drop before going multi-player - bit annoying as it was on discount over the holidays but it was requested just last weekend.
