Bedders Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Division 2 Closed Beta kept disconnecting me and a friend last night but seemed OK. I had major framerate/stuttering/input lag issues initially, but checking on their forums gave MSI Afterburner as the culprit. Closed that and it worked fine. Which is annoying, because I use MSI Afterburner and Riveria Tuner to cap my refresh rate to 144Hz...

I had major framerate/stuttering/input lag issues initially, but checking on their forums gave MSI Afterburner as the culprit. Closed that and it worked fine. I had spontaneous FPS drops (even freezes) for 2-3 seconds every now and again, and I'm not using any aftermarket or tuner software (beyond NVidia's built in stuff, anyway) Also one time the audio completely died until I opened the menu..
sted Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Is it closed or an open beta? I wouldn't mind giving it a bash but I aint on no VIP lists. its closed but you do get 3 friend codes so you can play together if youre on xbox add sted and i can send you one of them if you want (assuming that part of the site is up and working (it wasnt for a lot of yesterday evening))

DeGrimmy Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Finally, Halo's Master Chief Collection has been announced for PC, and will start with Halo: Reach, which is new to the collection. Beyond excited, even though I have it on my Xbox! My mates never bought an Xbox One, so when we've wanted to play Halo, I've had to put up with the original versions... But this will change everything! 1

Garacesh Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 (edited) I never really got into Halo. I played the first one. It wasn't a bad game by any stretch. I remember the single player campaign was pretty good too.. It just felt too slow. Movement was clunky (I assume to encourage vehicle use?) and none of the guns really felt 'meaty'. And I didn't really care for that sword-thingy that everybody goes nuts about, either. Also Halo 1 Multiplayer suffered from the de_dust2/ctf_2fort syndrome, with Blood Gulch I suppose I've just been spoiled by Unreal Tournament, Quake and now Apex. Edited March 13, 2019 by Garacesh

I think I'm most excited to play Firefight again, this time with a solid framerate... I never really got into Halo. I played the first one. It wasn't a bad game by any stretch. The first Halo is pretty tough to play from a mechanical standpoint nowadays. I recently went through and played all the campaigns again, and Halo CE was by far the most difficult to get through. LTurner3692 Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Can we take a moment to remember all the decent single player games instead of all these mulitplayer ones!

korifugi Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Can we take a moment to remember all the decent single player games instead of all these mulitplayer ones! Did anyone ever play Black? (from the PS2 era?)

(from the PS2 era?) PS2 was amazing for single player games, mostly just because it didn't have multiplayer (I don't think, anyway?) Drakengard, Onimusha, Shadow of the Colossus, God of War, SMT Digital Devil Saga (I think Persona 3 and 4 were PS2, too?), Burnout 3: Takedown (OK, not exactly story-driven, but still fun as all hell!), Devil May Cry..
korifugi Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Did anyone ever play Black? (from the PS2 era?) spent weeks playing it! It just sticks in my mind as all the weapons had a vastly different 'feel' from each other - plus the whole "orchestra of guns" thing was brilliant.

LTurner3692 Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 PS2 did have multiplayer, however it never took off! that and no one made the games for it to really take off! you have mentioned some great games though!

The HD remaster of both Halo 1 & 2 are thoroughly beautiful things. Made playing them a pleasure once more.
sted Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 Can we take a moment to remember all the decent single player games instead of all these mulitplayer ones! they are still out there but yes micro transactions as a service games do see to be the new in thing mainly because after they have your £50 (+20 extra for a few days early access) they can keep you playing and giving them money for years and people seem to like them.
Garacesh Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 I do think we're seeing the start of the 'live services' bubble bursting, though. Too many live services demand not some of our time, but all of our time. Too many live services demand not some of our money, but all of our money. Too many live services have full Triple-A price tags, yet still have extra content locked behind additional transactions and gambling/chance-based content. Too many live services are employing more and more psychological tactics in order to mentally condition players into spending more money and more time. I don't think we'll see the end of them any time soon, but I think as a whole people are getting real sick of it now, and aren't going to be buying in so much going forward.

DeGrimmy Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Before Mass Effect Andromeda released (2 years ago now ), I started a playthrough of the Mass Effect trilogy starting from the first game. I made it to about halfway through ME2 before Andromeda hit, and I abandoned my run after that. On Friday, I decided to continue where I left off. I'm on ME3 now, making very slow progress in the main quest but whipping through all the side quests and DLC I can find. It's been all I can think about since! I don't appear to remember an awful lot about ME3 (especially some of the single player DLCs) so it's been really enjoyable so far. Last time I played ME3 was before they made changes to the ending.
korifugi Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 I've just spent a while going through the Resident Evil 0 remaster and the Resident Evil 1 Remakester in preparation for the RE2 remake. Going through it now and damn, they've done a good job on it.
