Popular Post GrumbleDook Posted April 13, 2015 Popular Post Posted April 13, 2015 Some of you may have seen from my FaceBook status last week but My Better half and I have been approved to adopt again, and matched against a lovely little 9-month old boy. We will be meeting him at the end of this week and he will be a full time resident of the Sheppard House not long after. A big thank you to those who have already given congratulations, and those who I have prodded for advice in recent months as well as for when we took on our first child. First time parent for the 2nd time!!! 37

We adopted our 3rd child a couple of years ago and it's only in the last few months that I feel like I'm back on top of life again. The approval and matching process was really wearing and drawn out for us (although I hear that this has been improved more recently) and our new daughter needs a lot of caring for (and makes sure that she gets it). All seems worth it now but be prepared for the tough times should they come! 1

Virtually no chance of me staying late on my next few visits to Swansea now though!

Just remember that when you've got a pair, and you're out and about on your own with them that they'll almost always run in two different directions! That is what bungee cords are for. Connect the 2 darlings together so that as they run away from each other they bounce back. :-) 1

The process is a lot better than it used to be, partly due to recent changes in legislation / funding but the cynic might also say that it happens quicker as councils need to get children off the books asap as it costs more money when they are in care! I've just set up a private group for adoptive and prospective adoptive parents if anyone is interested in joining. Please note that some information on there might be sensitive and not for the faint hearted, depending on what people feel like sharing. J is a lovely girl who is 5 1/4 and who has been with us for 2 3/4 years. She is so excited it is unbelievable ... She has been quite involved in the whole process ... and even before she was aware of what was going on she was asking if she could have a daughter as she wanted a sister and Mummy can't grow babies in her tummy. We pointed out that if she had a daughter that would make Mummy a Granny, and she isn't allowed to have a baby until she is at least 21, or maybe even 30!! We then agreed that we would go and talk with our friends who help us find her and we would see if we can find a baby .. but it could be a boy or a girl, we just don't know. 2

Making her just like every other big sister (or brother) No gender guarantee for non adopting parents either It's a responsible job being a big sister. I am sure she will have you organised on that subject in no time, just like our daughter did 3
