"computer server" those two words sounds so frustratingly derp when put together like that.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who was getting annoyed at that!

A BLACKBURN College building was damaged by smoke when a fire broke out in the computer server.

Watch manager Rob Birtwistle said: “The computer server had set on fire in the computer server room.

“It is one of the brand new buildings. The computer server is completely destroyed and the computer room was also damaged by the smoke.

“It is possible the fire was caused by overheating of the server unit.”

Oh god kill me now.

Must have been a wiring issue, surely?

The server should have shut itself down unless it was overheating? I've come across places where they've turned the temp alarms off and it does worry me.

where did you get a photo of my computer server room from?

If you look carefully you can see the screen of my computer server in the bottom left of the photo.

This comes across a lot like "Fire in the server room? Blame IT!" when in all likelihood it was something completely unrelated to IT, if it's a brand new building I would be asking what the builder missed/which regs got skipped.

Also the top comment on that thread is brilliantly unrealistic, "Why didn't the computer server room have an automated fire prevention/extinguishing system in place?" yes because all schools and colleges can afford something like that.

WTF? Is that a real setup somewhere. I'd kill myself if I ended up doing something like that.

Looks like one of our racks in France TBH that is just epic and I've only seen photos of it and want to just have a fire to make them re-patch it sensibly and tidy, I'm not as much of a cable tidy guy as @Ric_ is but I have some standards!
