What annoys me is the road closures etc that have inconvenienced the population trying to go about their daily lives. It's just a TV programme - I don't think Westminster Council should have agreed this.

 

I have to disagree with you young lady, TV Shows and movies do this often. The only difference is the fact this hit the news otherwise only those directly effected would know about it. London gets used often, especially surrounding the tower of London/bridge/eye and West Minister.

 

In my area that I live in, it's been used quite a few times for TV/Films because of one major feature. As much as it does disrupt my daily life, it does bring nice publicity to the area. Good for tourism too :)

 

Although in this incident it's very different....

The Chris Evans version Of "Top Gear" will appear on Netflix internationally

 

There has been speculation for months that Netflix was going to obtain the rights. Netflix already shows the older version of the BBC’s Top Gear, featuring Clarkson.

 

In an interview with BuzzFeed News on Tuesday, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos confirmed publicly for the first time that it will air the Chris Evans version, saying that the show will “fall under the same deals” of international distribution as the existing Top Gear.

 

Asked whether it would be shown in every country, Sarandos said: “Worldwide I don’t know, as there are pockets of output deals that block all of those things, so we can only control worldwide on things that we can control outright, or things that we take on very early in their life. But multi-territory for sure.”

 

The BBC is due to start airing the Evans show in the UK in May, and while Netflix has not confirmed when it will start showing it internationally, it is likely to be later in the year.

 

This means that it will potentially be going head-to-head with the new show fronted by Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May on the Amazon Prime streaming service.

 

Amazon’s show does not have a release date, but a recent trailer confirmed it will appear in the autumn this year.

 

BuzzFeed News asked Netflix CEO Reed Hastings if he ever planned to sign the new Clarkson, Hammond, and May show after Clarkson left the BBC for punching a producer. He replied: “They bid themselves out to many people and to the highest price, like most creators do. It’s a natural process and Amazon paid the highest price.”

The Stig is a bit taller than I remember him being. Also, I wonder how much that cost!

Probably a lot less than a punch in the mouth.

Aaaaarrgh! Some of them are using the default blue reply text colour - I hate blue reply text! If I was in charge of it I would make black text the default colour for replies as well as for new emails! Seriously though, I'm not sure why but this is one of my biggest bugbears!

 

Relax. There are other things to worry about. Like where is my third coffee of the morning? Why isn't it here already?

So, what did everyone think of it?

 

I thought it was just more of the same - weak challenges which were already running out of ideas when they were on the BBC. The bit in the tent was drawn out and awkward.

I kind of liked it - not quite enough content, but they need to get the 'this is the new show' bit out of the way.

 

The not-at-all-veiled digs at the BBC and Top Gear were funny, but I suspect they'll get old very soon.

 

I think it needs a couple of episodes to really judge.

I laughed a lot and was impressed with the camera work. I think it needs a little while to get the new format bedded in, but that opening scene was magnificent.

 

I'm looking forward to seeing them do some of the more ridiculous challenges however. I like the car stuff but my wife gets bored during the more serious bits and would rather see them falling off a boat or some other shenanigans.

 

Roll on episode 2!
