Be interested in a space combat game set of rules :) can I pinch a copy. I have a load of old resin ship models gathering dust.

I have been playing Malifaux, relics and more recently wrath of kings.

X-Wing is the most popular non-GW game at my club. Friends also like Malifaux and Warmahordes.

Sadly GW is expensive, although Kill Team helps out with really small skirmish level games.

Anyone play any non GW games?

I went off GW and the bigger model count games and have been playing some brilliant skirmish games over the past few years.

We've got some guys who play Warmachine/Hordes, some interest in Malifaux and Dropzone Commander and various historical games. Personally I'm pretty happy just playing Mordheim at the moment and I may get some Warmachine in the future but I'm not too impressed with the warjacks and warbeast models to want to paint them.

Yeah warmahordes is an interesting one. It can get quite serious at events and I agree they could do with working on some of the beasts.....I painted some trolls up a while ago and they came out ok.

If you like Mordheim I can recommend malifaux :)

Has anyone got pictures of there armies/models? always nice to see what others are doing :)

I still have quite a sizeable Draconis Combine force (about a company), and a few Stars of Clan 'mechs - I must dig them out sometime and get another game in.

If anyone is in the Derby area, I may be able to arrange something (although I haven't played it myself for a while!)

im up Mansfield way id be interested if there was an in-between place

I'm public transport only I'm afraid (with my usual club in walking distance).

Let me have a think though - I may be able to sort something (Plus - I've got to dig the kit out as I've moved house since I've played)

Honestly I'm thinking of doing the same :( Got lots of Dark Eldar and Tryanids, I just don't really play anymore

I'd be happy to do any geeks a cheap deal, if I'm allowed to sell stuff on here :) Might message the mods just to be safe but I can't see them minding.

All new. I did toy with the idea of getting some old stuff but never did. The old Raiders look amazing, I was planning to smoosh one together with some other bitz to be the Dias of Destruction, but then they removed it from the new 'dex (presumably to reintroduce it later on as a supplementary)

There was speculation Vect would become a Lord of War but it turns out they removed most of the characters over a copyright spat about units without models. :(

Really? THAT was why they did it? Because people were using proxies? That's.. A bit rubbish.

Someone using your model as a proxy is surely nothing but a good thing? It's 100% positive advertising!

Whenever there was a conversation at my FLGS that went to the tune of "Who's that?" "Vect." "Oh, when did they release a model for him?" "They didn't. It's $ModelName from $GameSeries." the following line was always something like "Oh, cool, I'll have to check out their models."

Edit: Bloomin' double-post again :(

GW v Chapterhouse Studios. I believe Chapterhouse were making models aimed at filling the gaps in GW's model line without hiding the fact and GW's lawyers didn't like it. The ruling destroyed Chapterhouse but something also went against GW which, combined with their desire to phase out old manufacturing kit and shrink model lines, led to them removing army list entries without models available.

I quite agree something should have gone against GW. Chapterhouse aren't doing anything wrong* by producing models where there are not available.

* Depending on how blatant they were, I'll look up details later if I remember. Obviously they can't say "This is a 50mm die-cast resin Asdrubael Vect model for use in Games Workshop's tabletop game, Warhammer 40,000" because IP, but they can make an obviously-meant-to-be-Vect model and call it "Vorst, Evil Leader of the Dark Ancients" with a model that easily matches Vect's description.

Edit:

ChapterHouse Studios is a miniatures company that produces miniatures and bits meant to be used with Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Fantasy lines. Rather than dancing around the issue and saying "compatible with major brands of 28mm miniatures (wink, wink)", ChapterHouse's products are directly named and organized by what GW factions and models they're meant to go with.

Yeah.. Fair enough.. But GW should've still made models for its units :/

I wouldn't visit 1d4Chan at work. :p

The Dark Eldar Codex did have weird things happening to it though. Venom Blades were great for Poison(2+) melee on squad leaders but they restricted them to only the units with venom blades on their sprue. I also made a cool Duke Sliscus conversion and was planning a Lady Malys who is a big character in the background material but they were scrapped too. Good job I never got round to making a Dais of Destruction! I'm not sure how an AV14 Raider with 3 Dark Lances would weigh up to a big stomping titan if it was a Lord of War though.

I wish they'd bring back Archons on Reaver Jetbikes again, I guess they figured a potential 54" move was too much for a killing machine with a 2+ Invuln. :)

I just Google'd "GW v Chapterhouse Studios" and clicked the first link. That page is clean, can't speak for any others, though :p

Maybe, but most of the time the squad leader upgrade is a bit useless. 10pts for +1 LD isn't a bad gig if you've got about 50pts spare at the end of your list building.. I had a pretty cool Sliscus model too made from Fantasy's Dark Elves (that badass cape, though :D) and other bitz, and I also have an awesome (if I may say so myself) Klaivex/Drazhar model as I don't like the official Drazhar model.

Sluscus was amazing and I was gutted when they took him out. There was never a match that I didn't field him.

HA! When was that? Back in the old days? Wish I'd have been around for that!
