ICTDirect_Dave Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 I spent a good chunk of this weekend converting the Indomitus box Marine HQ units into proper Space Wolves. It was my first time mucking about with green stuff too. I'm chuffed with the results. Primaris Bladeguard Ancient - Now Great Company Ancient I added a bunch of fur and made the standard more Wulfen, adding a wulfen head in place of the Skull and swapping the skeletal hand in the marine's left hand with a Wulfen Claw. Primaris Lieutenant - Now Wolf Guard Battle Leader Swapped the medieval-style storm shield for one from the Wulfen sprue, switched out the halo on the backpack for a Wulfen trophy rack and sculpted a bunch of fur to hide the robes. Primaris Captain - Now Primaris Wolf Lord Particularly chuffed with this chap. Swapped the power sword for a double-handed frost axe - modded to remove the extra hand at the top and with sculpted leather strap to hide this and hold the whole things together. Switched the backpack for one from the Space Wolf upgrade sprue and added a banner from the wolf pack box. Switched out the head for one that looks like He-Man. Replaced the hourglass on the shield with a wolf totem and added sculpted fur over everything! I'll start painting them later in the week 4

I figured it was really an old, well-worn leather trenchcoat and it should look suitably weather-beaten. Took a little work, but its the product of just four colours (Vallejo heavy sienna and Citadel's kislev flesh, abaddon black and agrax earthshade).

Duranis Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 (edited) Also agree that coat is brilliant! Going to save that as a reference for worn leather in the future. I've been doing a lot of digital stuff recently so decided to take a bit of a break from that and use some of the parts I had been working on to whip out another Gaslands conversation. A Morris Minor might not be the first car you think of for "post apocalyptic battle car" but it came out pretty good. Original car and the conversion. Cut out the bonnet and part of the rear, built in a platform and added gubbins. The wheels, rear bumper and engine aren't my own designs but the rest of the 3D printed stuff is what I made. Mako Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 I've never played tabletop, so the miniatures and painting isn't my thing, but I do enjoy the universe and have played a lot of the video games. I did a search of this thread and the forum but couldn't find this being posted anywhere. A decent depiction of the Space Marines being the calculated warriors they're meant to be, not to mention the quality of the CGI and the cinematography. Possibly one of the best pieces of film I've seen in a while, puts the game studios and CGI filmmakers to shame. I feel obliged to link to the actual channel as he deserves views and love. 1

Working my way through painting my necrons army as well. I live near a store that have gaming tables, something I will be setting up with friends once we can do it again!

Organising the time to have games was the trickiest part (we're not teenagers living within cycling distance anymore), so I've never really played anything like regularly enough to really get my head around the game aspect. Now that 9th edition has arrived and all the books I managed to just about read for 8th edition are going out of date, I'm not sure I can be bothered to try and keep pace with the rules. I'm just content to take my time painting and modelling a fairly modest army and looking at the nice pictures in the 8th edition books.

But you are right I've got an army I'm happy with not too big but enough to teach my 9 year old how to play the game. My older 14 year old is more interested in his PS4 mind you lol!!

Yeah we had started playing D&D but obviously can't meet up at the moment for it. I tried DM'ing at home and my youngest loved it but oldest one lost interest as he didn't find it as fun with just the 3 of us. Been thinking trying to find somewhere online to join and play but not even sure where to start with that. In the mean time I have made about 30 characters that I'm probably never going to use and have enough material for a homebrew campaign setting to take people up to about level 15 (which I'm also probably never going to use).

If you're not sure where to start in terms of looking for a new group, then Reddit and the roll20 forums are probably a good place to begin. Don't want to derail down a D&D road so to steer it back on course, roll20 is flexible for most tabletop and has an active 40k community. 1

Totally worth it as there's tons of miniatures on top of the rulebook. They may be push-fit rather than multipart, but a little eBay searching for Space Wolf spares gave me more than enough bits to mod them.
