@DGardiner So you are the EVE equivalent of a scam racket?

i wouldn't go that far haha, i just allow the members to play the game as they see fit our only requirement is you part take in one strategic fleet a month.

it just so happens one guy did a scam and made a lot of money so more people did it

Yep, I hear that got exceptionally prevalent, which is why a lot of corps have a very strict selection/progression system.. but still, if you're that determined, then it's still possible.

I rediscovered a few things this weekend:

1) Missions in a Typhoon are a lot more "interesting" than in a Tengu. I've actually got to watch my shields and activate my booster when I get to around 30%, rather than the Tengu route of either move fast enough that I take basically 0 damage or have the booster on all the time and not care about shields or cap.

2) I've got a lot of LP but it's spread across a few different corps and to get anything good out it I'd have to spend a lot of time running more missions (or Incursions I guess but I don't know what state they are in at the minute).

3) Missions are a little boring even in a Typhoon. I'm torn between going back to high sec exploration (probably in a Astreos or whatever the SOE frig is called) and Incursions, since I'm wanting to plex my account I'll probably go with the Incurions as they used to bring in a lot of isk for not much work.

As much as I'm enjoying EVE, it's causing all sorts of havoc with my system after extended use (1 hour plus).. Graphics driver crashes, even crash-to-reboots :(

I've done memory tests, checked my GPU isn't overheating, the general stuff. Tried putting EVE in DX9 mode, Win7 compatibility, reducing graphics/turning off certain effects, no luck. But it's only EVE that does this. I can play PAYDAY, DOTA, etc without any issues at all.. :(

As for missions.. I've been working my way through them steadily, done all the noobie stuff and am now working through Sisters of Eve. I was quite surprised to actually have had to buy new cannons last night as the NPC pirates were doing too much damage to me and I was barely scratching them. Now I've upgraded from 125m gatling autocannons to (I think..) 7x 150mm Autocannon I, I'm packing much more of a punch :D

As it's happening after extended use, the major two probable causes would be GPU overheating and memory issues but as you've tested both of those... huh. Weird.

I'll be resubbing in a few more days. :o

do you have a high end graphics card?

press escape, and under graphics set interval to 1, its probably insane fps overheating your card

Yeah, plus I can play other games that push my GPU to much higher temperatures. After it crash-to-rebooted last night (chunks of the screen flashed red blocks, but in that frame everything else was rendered properly, not all discoloured like you'd expect from a memory fault) I powered my machine back up and logged back in to EVE, of which the same thing happened again (only green chunks this time) minutes later. Then I played some PAYDAY 2 and had no errors at all O.o

I am the confus. I think I'm going to have to contact CCP or get on their forums, see if I can find out the issue.

I have a hydro cooled Palit NVidia GeForce GTX 970. Interval is already set to 1. EVE is locked at 60fps because vsync. Card only runs at about 50 degrees playing EVE. Nothing major.

I'd verify and reinstall EVE first just in case. It's all the people on the forums will tell you to do anyway :p

I ran the in-built repair tool last night :) Haven't played since, though, so I'll take it out of W7 mode and test it later. Maybe I'll set Interval to 2, see what happens? lol. I've already had to turn ship explosions off because it makes my entire screen brilliant white for about 60s if I look remotely near it lol. Bit odd.

So I hear BRAVE nuked another supership recently. I do think BRAVE will be the corp I end up applying to as they do seem rather active.

BRAVE Collective are absolutely lovely people mostly, I was a part of them for a while - would recommend!

I thought ESO was terrible personally.. I played the beta and it was just.. no. Blah. Really couldn't get into it. Didn't feel like an Elder Scrolls game at all, even though the combat mechanics were the same etc.

I played the beta too :) it was okay but not worth the sub, it's definitely improved a lot.

It was okay, yeah. But it was ruined by the fact there were other people. One of the charms of TES is that you can go anywhere, do anything (within reason).. That feeling just wasn't there when you factor in x-hundred other players all trying to do the same quests etc. It got pretty frustrating to be trying to kill x-amount-of-y-mob only to have to compete with other players to actually get them, and then there was the 20-players-hanging-around-an-npc at any given time.. Just the little things that dramatically reduced the 'feel' of it. Edited by Garacesh

But you are the chosen one.... thousand nine hundred and twenty third.

Re-subbed at the weekend.

Ran a few missions before getting bored of that. Started playing around with the new probing system, much better than its predecessor so just had fun probing down mission runners and scaring them by uncloaking my stealth bomber on them before flying off. (high sec and cba scooping loot to bait them)

Got a few offers from old corp mates already, all still in null sec alliances. Might be signing up soon.

Woo.

Haven't been on my PC at all recently, so no Eve in the past week. I'm partway through SoE but missions are starting to get dull.. Do I finish SoE and then look for corps, or just apply to BRAVE (or others) and get right into the gooey centre of it all?

I would jump right in.

Brave might not be the best choice right now. They were very noob focused but as of late there fleets have needed high skill points to fly (tengu's afaik). They are duking it out with Pandemic Legion right now and seem to be getting quite involved in null sec.

One of the brave guys made his own corp that is now part of goons focused on newbies, karmafleet i think, just don't pay them any isk to join!

The main issue with joining a warring alliance is not much chance to make isk, you will be expected to fleet up and even if you try ratting you will be harassed a lot by the enemy. The CFC seems to be the most stable power block if you wanted to get into nulsec, if you just wanted to learn pvp then faction warfare/ red v blue / low sec corp might be your best bet.

Yeah I've subscribed to /r/bravenewbies (I think..) and I've been keeping a watchful eye on what they're doing. They seem to be right in the middle of a 3-way duke-out right now.

I'm not concerned about making my fortune, truth be told. If a corp has a decent SRP I'm more than happy to take the helm and fly straight into the path of a rampaging fleet :D I've yet to experience the loss of my first ship but I know it's a vital part of 'training' yourself to not get too invested in your property. Let's treat it like a plaster and get it over with lol.
